Chapter 23 : Home

The rest of our vacation was amazing, our family tour of Denmark was breathtaking I never realized how beautiful of a place it was. Our flight home was quiet and mostly dozing off during films, we've been home for a few days now and we're just trying to enjoy the time we have left before Ed has to leave for tour. I have been exhausted and I hear Ed snickering as I'm reviewing a report on my laptop one Monday morning.

My eyes snap up at him in a glare and he covers his mouth watching me. "What's so funny mister?" He scoots closer taking my laptop and sets it on the table before kissing my forehead. "Get up, come on, up to bed with you little miss." I give him a confused look furrowing my brows and push him back shaking my head. "Stop that I've got too much work to do Eddie!" He laughs at me trying to pick me up as I protest flailing my arms about. "Nic seriously you were just asleep sitting upright with your laptop. You need a break, come on and take a nap."

I bite my lip looking up at him "Wait, I was asleep??" He nods beginning to laugh again and I sigh giving up the fight. "This is all your fault Edward." I exclaim as he carries me up to our room and he nods laughing "I'm certain it is darling." I wrap my arms around his neck burying my face in his chest and close my eyes breathing him in along the way. We reach our bedroom and Ed lies me on the bed crawling up next to me. He pulls me into his arms pressing his chest to my back and kisses along my shoulder breathing softly against my ear.

"So sorry I've been wearing you out my love I'm just going to miss you is all." I relax into him rubbing my thumbs back and forth across his knuckles placed around my middle and lean my head against his chest smiling. "I'm going to miss you too baby but we will see each other. London shows, probably when the kids and I go to America for holiday, and maybe on some of your off times also baby. It will be difficult but we will get through it dont worry." He nods against my neck kissing it softly and pulls me tighter to him as I grin. "I know babe but I probably haven't been helping you get rid of your jet lag hounding you every night."

A giggle erupts from my mouth and I turn kissing his cheek, "Nice word choice there Eddie." He shakes his head laughing before he kisses my shoulder. "Yes Nic, I'm a filthy dog but you love me." I nod giggling as I relax against him again closing my eyes, "I do love you baby now I'm going to take that nap!"

My eyes open to the bright warm sun covering me and an arm gripping me tighter. I smile tilting my head as soft lips brush my shoulder and rub Ed's arms around me snuggling further into him. "Hmmm hi baby." I mumble sleepily and he pulls me closer grumbling "Five more minutes babe." I laugh shaking my head and turn over to look at his sleepy face smiling. "No more minutes we've been asleep too long." He rolls his eyes groaning and then smiles running his fingertips along my neckline.

"Mm you fell asleep with this on babe."

I nod smiling as I remember Ed coming to bed after our date in Denmark and grinning like a fool as he handed me a small box. I took the box blushing wildly at him and open it slowly my eyes growing wide as the elegant necklace comes into view. 'Baby this is so beautiful you didnt have to do this.' Ed's smile falls slightly as he shakes his head. 'You deserve it babe, open it.' I take the gorgeous locket adorned with blues and whites and golds depicting dandelions and open it slowly. Inside I find a photograph of Ed and the children I'd snapped on one side and a photograph of the five of us on the other. 'I made a wish and you all came true.' Ed whispered against my forehead and I felt tears prick my eyes.

"You ok babe?" Ed asks and I shake out of my day dream smiling up at him as my fingers graze his and the locket. "Fine baby was just thinking about Denmark." Ed leans over me kissing my cheeks and grins raising an eyebrow. "Oh? Which part? The part where I got to make you come undone over the city?" I roll my eyes smacking his chest and turn my nose up shaking my head. "Um no, when you told me you wanted to spend forever with me." His face softens and he rests his head on my shoulder tracing my collarbone with his fingers.
