~Elizabeth's POV~
I pose my hands over my cheap phone, ready to call Dan. Taking a deep breath, I dial the first numbers. I know he's my loving brother, I don't even know why I'm wary. I believe I'm just afraid of embarrassment. The phone rings. Once.
I am unnecessarily anxious.
Twice.
I talked to him a couple of weeks ago. Three times."Hello?" He answers in his familiar voice
"Hey Dan, it's El," I say, calming myself.
"Oh, wow! I thought it was Bigfoot.." He says in a playful, sarcastic tone.
I halfheartedly laugh. He can tell my disconcerting attitude.
"Elizabeth, what's wrong?" Dan says, worry showing in his voice.
I take a breath.
"Dan- I.. Um, I was wondering if you could help me," I begin slowly, "I.. Um.. I want to move away from here. Too many bad memories, ya know?" It wasn't just that. "I don't think, umm, I can really find a house and I'm low on money, you know, and I miss you, too! I haven't seen you in so long. I think what I'm asking, is if maybe I could stay with you please? Things are.. A little tough, and I'm not trying to be a freeloader or anything-"
He cuts off my wordy plead, saying, "El, you're my sister, and I miss you, too. Of course you can stay with me! Please don't be so anxious to ask. It's really fine, c'mon."
I breath a sigh of relief. I love Dan, he truly is a great older brother, even if he was (playfully) sarcastic or cocky sometimes.
We discuss some plans, and he decides tommorow (so soon) he'll pick me up at the airport(though there really isn't that much need for a aeroplane, he could easily drive. "But it's so booorrinng," he says.)
"Oh, yea, but I should tell you. I'm sure you've seen in my videos, but,"
I didn't have "wi-fi". I had only seen one or two of his videos.
"I have a flatmate. His name is Phil, and he's super sweet and friendly. I'll tell him to stay a few nights at friends or something if you just- well, you know."
A flatmate? I'll be living with another guy? People never seem to like me, though. He won't, either.
"Yea, no it's fine. He can stay. I'd.. Love to meet him. Yea."
We talk for a bit more. I have to admit hearing my brother's voice really cheers me up, if that was possible.
"Dan, I'm really sorry. I can't wait to see you," I say, my eyes gathering a little water, "Uh.. Love you or whatever."
"Love you, too, El," Dan says before I shut the phone.
