Half/Full

Chapter Four

Eno, Nicole, and I make our way to environmental science. We make our way through the crowded hallway I feel eyes tracking us while we walk, I look over to my left, just in front of us, standing by the door to our class, four guys quickly enter when the three of us walk towards the door, as I enter, the group of four guys talk and stare right at me. Nicole takes my wrist and pulls me over to a desk she had to have noticed them and wanted to get me seated before they tried any thing stupid. Eno definitely had to notice them as well, I could almost feel his intensity radiating off him as I take my seat, Nicole sits to my right and Eno sits behind me. As the teacher goes around checking off names for attendance the four guys shift their chairs to face myself, Nicole and Eno, the teacher goes to his desk to gather some papers but drops a large pile onto the ground, he cursed himself for his clumsiness and begins to clean his mess. I draw my attention to a book flying towards me, I barely move out of the way,

"HEY! The fuck was that about?!" Eno shouts as he gets up standing in front of Nicole and me. The guys laugh and begin to throw more books at us, Eno stands in front of us not moving, a book hits him center in his back, his eyes widen and he bites his bottom lip hard. The guys move closer, standing now in front of Eno,

"You'd protect that half? Then you'll fade, just like her." Eno scoffs,

"Do your worse, I'll still stand here, protecting my friends, so go on-" They all begin to punch and kick him down, stepping on his head, hands, legs, kicking at his back, they relentlessly attacked. Nicole got up and jumped onto the back of one of the guys and began to choke him, the teacher goes to the door and calls for security.

"KNOCK IT OFF!" I scream upon dead ears, but not dead minds, one of them look at me and is getting ready to swing at me, Eno manages to fend off the remaining two guys that were beating him upon seeing one of them turn their attention to me. The one that stood before me goes for a right hook to my face, I put my hands up, guarding my face and my soul, I wait for the impact, peeking from between my arms Eno stands behind the man, holding his left arm around the man's neck, his right hand gripping the guys dark gray soul, "Eno don't! " But I was too late, dust began to fall from his right hand, Eno drops his body, it shatters on the ground into a pile of dust, Nicole was still on one of them, but he grabs her hair and pulls her off his back, throwing her down, I push past Eno and punch the man in his nose, a crack forms from the bridge down to the nostrils, he falls to his knees holding his nose. I go to Nicole and help her up, Eno stands next to us but slightly in front, the last two get grabbed by security guards.

As three more rush in a council guard enters and stands between us and the two men, "Sarah Kwan, Eno Sozë, and Nicole Hayes, come with me." He walks to the door, the three of us follow him. He continues as the school security take the three men that attacked us to the entrance hall where we wait for the Council Guard who is now in the main office talking with Peter Sanibel. Eno looks at Nicole and I,

"You two okay?" We nod, "Any idea as to what happens now?" I sigh,

"Maybe we get transferred to a different school, or we just drop out. I mean we are in the highest level of education and we wouldn't be frowned upon for doing so. We are all adults so it really doesn't matter." Nicole and Eno chuckle almost at the same time,

"Sarah, Nicole and I don't really have anyone to frown upon us should we drop out." I smile as Eno speaks. The council guard comes to us,

"Come, outside you, three will be meeting two of the Council of 50, they will give you a choice as to what you can do now." We nod as he walks out of the building, we follow him to a car where the two members of the Council wait.

"Sarah, Eno, and Nicole, mainly Sarah Kwan but since you two are supporting her you'll be giving the same choice, so listen closely." We stand waiting for their words, "Seeing as how these events aren't entirely your fault, Kwan, we cannot change the minds of the world, we can try and help a small few. So you three will no longer attend school, though I'm sure you've come to that conclusion. But you must be employed within this month we will leave you three alone so long as you don't get into trouble, understood?" The three of us nod. The Council Guard gets in the driver's seat and drives off.
