Emma's POV

I walked out of the school. Sighing, I ran a hand through my hair. I already hated this place, and it was only the first day. I knew that any school I moved to though, it would be hell. Though, I did grow up in Liberty for my whole life. It was still getting used to the new change. Especially after Hannah.

My mom wasn't picking me up, and I didn't know what bus to take. So, I did  the next best thing. I decided to walk home. I moved through the crowd, looking both ways to figure out where I had come from this morning.

I began walking, the school bus driving by me. I realized it was not like Liberty, kids not hanging out the windows. I shrugged and kept walking. That until I heard footsteps behind me. Turning around, I saw Jughead following me.

"Jug?" I questioned walking backwards. He looked up, a confused look on his face. "I'm guessing you live this way as well? Unless you're following me. if so, that's pretty weird." I chuckle out.

Jughead shakes his head, chuckling slightly. I stop in my tracks, waiting for him to catch up. He walks a little faster, watching up to me.

"So what's up?" I ask, realizing that he isn't much of a conversation starter. He shakes his head, shrugging.

"Nothing really, you?" He asks back, trying his best to keep the conversation. I shrug, not sure what to really say.

"Where you live down here?" I question. He freezes for a moment, before answering the question.

"I work at the drive-in, while it's still up. Sometimes I just spend the nights there since I spend most of my time there." He explains quickly. I nod my head, understanding.

"Your parents don't care?"

"No, not at all actually." He mumbles. I decide that it's better to avoid that topic. The rest of the time we just walk in silence, making small talk on the way. He fixes his beanie a few times. His hair looked fluffy, and it took all I had to not ask to touch it.

I then remembered that during bio, we got assigned as partners. We had to do some sort of project, something I wasn't really paying attention to.

"Shit, when do you want to work on that project for bio?" I ask him, looking up slightly. He sucks in a deep breath, shrugging.

"No clue, whenever is good for you." He tells me. I nod my head, thinking for a moment where we could go to work.

"We could go to Pops? Or Monets." I suggest, he looks at me confused.

"Monets?" He questions, the confusion coming through his voice thickly. I tilt my head, unsure of how he hadn't heard of it.

"It's a coffee shop in Liberty, pretty damn good," I tell him, looking over at him. A smirk makes its way to his face, as he turns his head to me now.

"But have you tried Pop's burgers? They are like an angel came down and spit on them. But like not in a gross way. In like a blessing way to make it a hundred times better." He rambles, the smirk still viable. I shake my head, laughing along.

"Okay, okay. You win, we can go to Pop's." I say to him, stopping. We had made it in front of my house in what felt like no time. And by the house, I meant trailer park. Where my mom could move us into. Since she couldn't drive me or pick me up from school every day, we had to move into the town so I could walk home.

"Well, this is where my castle awaits." I pause, looking up at him. "Whens the date?" I ask. His face shifts confused suddenly on what I was talking about. "For Pop's you dummy." I joke.

"How about tonight? At six?" He asks. I nod my head, knowing I'll be free. "See ya then." He says, walking off.
