Later that night the memories invade my dreams. I'm standing in a field and I see my eight year old self fallen to his knees. My parents lying dead at Tyrian's feet. Leo there next to me trying to drag me away. Then everything goes black. Next thing I see is red glowing eyes and a crooked grin. A cackling laugh that made my blood run like ice. I wake up in a cold sweat, gasping for air. I look over to see the others still resting. I throw on a shirt and open the window. I float to the roof and lay down, gazing at the stars. Why now of all times did those memories decide to start surfacing? Why can't I just push them to the far reaches of my mind? I close my eyes and attempt to relax. When I figure out that's futile I decide to take a short trip. I float into town and go on a walk.

Not much is open at this time of night in Vale. The streets are quiet and empty. Just what I needed. Just me and the crisp night air. I look across the street and see some shady guys start to tail a girl. I quickly put them all into an illusion to hide my appearance. The guys corner her and start to mug her when I interrupt them. "I believe that purse and those jewels belong to the missus. I'd give it back if I were you. They start talking big and pull a gun.I rip the weapons from them and toss them across the street. They go to grab me but I step out of the way and grab them by the collar. I knock their skulls together and they fall to the ground. I put all her stuff into her bag with telekinesis and hand it back. "Here you go, the police should be here soon. Maybe these two boys now have a whole brain between them so they won't try that again."

"I can't quite see you, what's your name?"

"Just call me Shadow." I hide around a corner and lift the illusion. I walk into the dust store and look for the novels. "Hey there Aries, couldn't sleep again?"

"No. Got anything good?"

"The new installment in the Grimm Hunters arrived the other day."

"Is is any good?"

"It's better than Book 2."

"Please there were children's books better than Book 2. I'll take it. How much?"

"Please, you tutor my granddaughter in combat skills. Take it." I nod and walk out. I find a quiet bench under a light post and start reading. While I read the tales of Jonathan Kotter, his adventures temporarily distracts me from my lingering memories. I look up and I sun is just starting to appear over the horizon. I mark my page with my finger and quickly float back to Beacon. I hide the book and curl up in bed.

An hour later someone else is shaking me. I open my eyes , Leo is standing over me. "You actually managed to get some rest last night?"

"Y-Yeah. Managed to have a good dream for once." I get up and redress in the bathroom. "C'mon guys, I heard they're serving cinnamon rolls in the cafeteria for breakfast." Leo shoves me aside and triggers his semblance, blasting away at a breakneck speed. I get up and shake my head. I walk to the cafeteria with the girls close behind.
