The second time Morgana went through the brain washing process, she didn't remember anything. Her mind was blank, which scared her. She was never the same. She twitched every so often. And she didn't talk. She never talked or even rose her voice. She would only nod or shake her head, much to Hydra's liking.
Morgana was told her name was 'Cosima'. Cosima was told that her name meant order and beauty.
A man she learned later whose name was Zola taught her. He taught her what organisation she was part of - Hydra. It wanted a new order, and Cosima was going to get that for them. Zola also taught her the importance of Hydra, and how she was to serve them and only them. Cosima learned with interest, for she had nothing else to do. She didn't remember her parents or anything else from her previous life. She knew only of Hydra - and that her purpose was to respect, please and protect Hydra.
Two months into Cosima's new life, she was told that Hydra was going to preform tests on her. She gladly accepted, seeing the happiness in being 'upgraded' as Zola told her she would become. He told her it would be painful, but Cosima had never experienced pain before and welcomed it.
Day after day, serums were added to the unconscious girl. All that was once Morgana was totally wiped out. Her parents wouldn't even recognise her if she walked the streets beside them. Cosima's body was completely transformed. Her blood was a mixture of three types of serums, that would eventually become activated once the final serum was added. As a result, her skin had become firmer, her hair had changed from long locks of gold to short strands of ebony and her eyes had become a cold stare.
Morgana had died in Hydra's base and out of her Cosima was born.
For the months of her testing and experimenting, Cosima was barely ever awake. There would be days where she was observed. In those days, she was locked up in her room while Zola and his team examined her. They thought she was doing well, seeing as all of the other test subjects had failed to make it this far.
It took a month to prefect the final serum that was to be added to Cosima's blood. It was deadly though, and harboured great consequences. Any other time it had been used, the host body did not survive, and even then the host body would develop a mutation. Some bodies changed colour while others grew tails. Hydra was wary of using it on Cosima, but Zola had given the go ahead.
Cosima was given the serum while she was strapped to a table. The doctors left the room and everyone waited for it to take effect, watching on the two dozen cameras that lined the room.
The serum worked to almost perfection.
Cosima's body took the serum effectively. Her heart rate seemed to increase, but nothing else changed. She was awake within a few hours and she felt more alive than ever before. She felt free, even though her room was four walls.
But the serum did not work to perfection. The mutation came a couple of days after unexpectedly. On all the other bodies, the mutation came right away, but Cosima's took a few days. She fell to the ground as Zola was talking about Hydra. She was out cold, but she was still moving. Her body was contorting, and seemed to be groaning. Zola, for the first time, was scared. They had her moved to her room where she was observed.
Immediately as they set her down, she began to contort again, but this time she was awake. Her eyes were bloodshot, her face in a grimace and her heart in her throat. Her back was the source of the pain. No way could she sit that it was not sore.
And then it happened. An almighty rip of skin. Something flashed across the room Cosima was in. She was screaming, even though she barely talked. She was whimpering when guards entered her room, with guns pointed.
What they saw stunned them. Out of Cosima's back stretched two, arched wings as black as coal. While Cosima was lying on the ground, whimpering at the pain, her two wings lay limply on the ground. Blood covered the room, as her skin had ripped when the wings came out. Cosima herself was lying in a pool of it.
Zola marveled at his creation. Not only had Cosima lived, but she had upgraded. This was the best thing he had hoped for. Now she only had to start her training in being the Winter Soldier's Partner.
