Cosima saw the team fly out to an isolated ship that was stranded. She thought that must be where Klaue was. She waited for a couple of minutes. She wanted to be a help, not a hindrance. The time spent in the air chasing the quinjet left her time to think.
Hydra wasn't going to help her for a while, and now she would think for herself and about herself. She was going to help the Avengers and stay with them until something else could be sorted out. At the moment, they were her only hope - and not a very bright one.
Cosima spread her wings and glided into the air, circling the ship a couple of times to see which way was the best to enter. She decided on a window and she crashed through it. She landed behind Tony in his Iron Man suit, while Ultron was trying to throw vomit (or at least that's what it looked like).
"What on earth are you doing here?" Thor asked, raising his hammer to her.
"I want to help. You need me."
"That'll be the day," Thor said.
"Cosima?" someone asked from beside Ultron. Cosima looked up.
"Pietro? Wanda? What are you..." Cosima trailed off. They weren't with her. They were on the opposing side.
"I'm not trying to turn them against you. They wanted to help me," Ultron said slyly.
"How could you?" Wanda yelled. She pointed to Tony. It clicked with Cosima. She remembered back to the time when the twins told her of their story and how they waited on Stark to blow them up. For two days. No wonder they looked angry.
"He's better than what you think," Cosima said confidently. "He tried to kill me." Cosima pointed to Ultron. It was a desperate attempt to get the twins back. She felt bad for not thinking of them until now. How could she not have? They could have been killed along with Stryker and she wouldn't have thought about it. She mentally slapped herself. She needed to be better than this.
"I wish he succeeded," Pietro said. He glared her down and Cosima looked down at her black boots. They were laced with dirt.
"I've had enough of this," Ultron said before shooting something out to Stark. He was pulled forwards and roughly backwards. Little versions of Ultron shot from under the bridge and attacked Thor and Steve.
Pietro never took his eyes off Cosima. She betrayed them. She would pay for siding with him.
A robot attacked Cosima from behind and put her in a death lock. She struggled hard before smashing the robot against a wall. It's metal body clattered around her. Another 'life' she had taken. She moved onto the next, helping Thor and Steve destroy the robots.
It was Pietro's turn to shine. He sped his way around the room, knocking Cosima over the banister and knocking Thor over. Cosima spread her wings out to stop her from falling, but something grabbed her waist and was pulling her along: another robot. She smashed it into a banister, scattering it's pieces.
But something hurt - her shoulder. She looked at it. It was dislocated. She struggled to remember what to do when a shoulder was dislocated. Stryker hadn't told her recently and it was jumbled up with all the other fog in her head.
"Let me help you with that," a foreign accent said before a sharp pain buzzed around her shoulder. A blur of blue whizzed past her and she fell to the floor in pain. She held her shoulder.
She felt a shadow behind her. She turned. A man with a machine gun. She held up her wing. Bullets bounced off. The floor was scattered with ammunition.
"So that's where the vibranium went to," a voice said. There was a hearty laugh afterwards. She removed her wing from her vision and looked in front of her. Klaue was standing there, five men with five guns pointed at her. She had no protection. Klaue walked up to her and touched her wing with one arm. "Amazing. He was a genius. Such a shame that he's gone. At least I can have his most prized hollow monster."
Someone came up behind her. She smelled the gas that knocked someone out a mile away, literally. She swung her leg backwards and shielded her back from the bullets that rained off of it. The gas lay on the ground and the bottle spilled. She covered her nose and mouth with one hand, curled into a ball and took off so that no one could injure her body.
But something stopped her. A heavy lead net dropped around her. She struggled to keep flapping her wings, but somehow an inner strength came over her. She lifted her wings and lifted a few more feet off the ground. She threw the net off of her and directed it to Klaue.
A memory washed over her once she reached safety. It was the negotiation. It was about vibranium. Her wings. How could she forget? Stryker dipped her wings in vibranium. Klaue was so ... demanding. She held him in her wings until he agreed. The procedure was so painful. A tingle went through the wings and she shivered and resurfaced from her cold memory.
She was knocked down on the ground by a blur - Pietro. She had to try and redeem herself. She hadn't really helped the Avengers.
But she knew she was too late. Wanda shot out red mist into Thor's mind. He wouldn't be fine. She had to catch up to Wanda before she released more of her mind-controlling thoughts attacked someone else internally.
