Alex' pov
Today was Kara's big day. She's getting married to Winn in a few hours. I don't know why but I had a weird feeling in my stomach. Just the nerves, I think. We were already at the church, getting ready for the big moment.
"I'm getting married, Alex." Kara excitedly said.
"I know. Are you ready to call yourself Kara Schott?" I curiously asked.
"I think so, I'm just a little nervous. How did you feel when you got married to Maggie?"
"Well, I felt excited. I felt happy, because I was getting married to the love of my life. But this day is about you."
"I know but you're still my sister. How are you holding up?"
"Well, I think it's time to move on. It's been more than six months. Yesterday, I signed the divorce papers."
"Oh, Alex... Why didn't you tell me?"
"It's your wedding day, Kara. And I need to handle this on my own. But let's forget about me, I want today to be a good day. Can you do that for me?"
"Yes. I love you, Alex."
"I love you too, Kara."
And we tightly hugged each other.
After the ceremony
"For the first time as a married couple, Mr. and Mrs. Schott!" I screamed.
Kara and Winn were finally married. They looked so in love, they were happy.
"Now, who's giving a speech?" Kara asked.
"Me." I replied.
"Hello, everyone. I wanted to start off by thanking Kara and Winn for inviting me to be a part of their special day. For those of you who don't know me, I'm Alex Danvers. I'm the maid of honour and Kara's older sister. Like everyone knows, Kara and I aren't actually sisters but she feels like one. Kara came to live with my family when she was fourteen years old and I couldn't have gotten a better sister than her. I look up to my sister, she taught me things that even my parents couldn't teach me. I've had the opportunity to watch her grow, change and evolve into the wonderful woman that sits before us today, and I am honored to call her my sister." I said, while trying to hold her tears.
"Winn, I can't thank you enough for making Kara so happy. You have been a wonderful boyfriend and then, a fantastic fiancé which is why I am sure you will make a perfect husband too. It is with great comfort knowing she has a man who's caring, loving, spontaneous and supportive by her side and I know you are the right guy for my sister. I'll leave you two with a little advice. Love isn't perfect. It isn't a fairy-tale or a storybook and it doesn't always come easy. Love is overcoming obstacles, facing challenges, fighting to be together, holding on and never letting go. I hope you can both look back on today as the moment you loved each other the least. I love you both so much. Let's all raise our glass for Mr. and Mrs. Schott. Cheers to new life, new love and everything in between. Congratulations!" I said.
"I love you." Kara mouthed.
"Is there anyone else who would like to say something?" I asked.
"Yes, me." I heard a familiar voice say.
I turned around and saw her standing there with a bouquet of roses.
"Maggie?" I asked.
Maggie's pov
I was slowly walking to the stage with that bouquet in my right hand. I put it down on a table, got on the stage and took the microphone in my hands.
