9. Family time

Alex: 26 weeks pregnant

Maggie's pov

 A few weeks ago, we announced to everyone that we were having a boy. They were very happy for us. I can't wait to have a little kid running around in our apartment. I know that our apartment is small but we are planning to buy a house after our little nugget is born. Alex has been in some pain, because our son's constantly kicking, but she doesn't like to show her weakness. I still notice it, so I try to spoil her although she doesn't like that. But that doesn't matter, I still do it. I wanted to surprise her, so I arranged a little baby shower but first, we were on our way to Doctor Hale because it was time for another ultrasound.

in the car

"Urgh..." Alex groaned.

"Are you okay, baby?" I asked softly.

"Just some kicking from our little nugget." She puffed. "I'm fine, just going to have to deal with it."

"In three months, it'll be over. We'll have a beautiful baby boy in our arms." I said, while rubbing her lower back.

"We should think about names, and we have to decorate the nursery, and..." she kept talking.

"Calm down, Danvers. We will arrange everything, but we're going to the ob-gyn first. Okay?"

"Okay."

"I like the name Alexander, though. And Alex for short."

"No way."

"Why not? I love that name, Alex is the name of my one true love." I joked.

"Oh, that's so sweet. Come here, baby. You can always make me feel better." and she pulled me closer.

At the ob-gyn

Alex was slowly falling asleep in her chair. She has been having some hard nights because of the baby's kicks. I always helped her by holding her in my arms, she felt safe with me. Then, Doctor Hale called our names.

"Mrs. Alex and Maggie Sawyer."

"Yes, that's us." I answered. "Alex, wake up. It's time." I whispered.

"Oh, God. I'm so sorry." she apologized.

"It's okay. You're tired." I comforted. "Let's go see our baby."

We got up and entered Emily's office. Alex immediately took a seat on that big chair, while I held her hand.

"How are you doing, Alex?" the doctor asked.

"I'm doing okay. Our baby has been kicking very hard, so I've got some pain, now and then." Alex answered.

"That's extremely normal. And how are your other syptoms?" Emily replied.

"Well, I've got a lot of cravings right now."

"I can confirm that. I have to buy groceries every single day." I laughed.

"That's alright. Make sure that you eat healthy for the baby."

"Got it, Doc." Alex smiled.

"That's good. Now, time to see your baby boy." Emily said. "Here's your little one. Have you thought about a name yet?"

"No...Yes. My wife found it funny to name him Alexander and Alex for short. It's the name of her soulmate, she claimed." Alex explained, while looking at me with her twinkling eyes.

"Well, Alexander is a beautiful name." Doctor Hale answered. "Everything looks fine, I'll get you a picture and then, you're good to go."

"Thank you, Doctor Hale." I said.

After the doctor's visit

Alex was sleeping, so I secretely drove to Kara's apartment. That was the location for our baby shower.  I invited Eliza, Dad, James, Mon-El, J'onn, Kara and Winn.  I slowly tried to wake up Alex when we arrived at Kara's place.

"Honey, wake up. We're here." I whispered.

She opened her eyes and she sat up.

"What are we doing here? This is Kara's apartment." she confusedly asked.

"I want to show her our baby's picture."

"Okay, I'll go with you."

We got out of the car and made our way to Kara's apartment. I rang the bell and waited for Kara to open the door.

"Hey, Kara. Can we come in?" I asked.

"Of course. Look how you belly has grown!" Kara said to Alex.

"Where's Winn?" Alex asked.

"Well..."

"SURPRISE!" and everyone came out of Kara's bedroom.

"Oh!" Alex looked confused. "What are you all doing here?"

"This is your baby shower!" Kara joyfully said.

"What? I didn't even..." and Alex turned to me. "You did this, Maggie!"

"I kinda did." I smiled.

"I love you, Maggie Sawyer."

"I love you too, Alex Sawyer." and I kissed her.

A few hours later

Everyone was having so much fun at the baby shower, when Kara came with a suggestion.

"Who wants to play a game of Monopoly?" she asked.

"Me!" J'onn, Mon-El, Winn and James  said at the same time.

"Eliza, Robert? Do you want to play?" Kara asked.

"No, we're fine here." they answered.

"Okay. Maggie, Alex?"

"I would say yes, but Alex is not in the mood. She's a little uncomfortable so I won't be joining you." I said, while I held Alex in my arms, trying to comfort her.

"It's okay, Maggie. I'm alright." Alex responded. "I'm just going to sit down for a little while."

"No, I'm staying with you."

"Okay." Alex replied.

A few hours later

Alex was still in some pain so I tried to ask her to go to Doctor Hale but Alex, stubborn as always, refused to go. I got up to get something to drink when I heard Alex screech. I quickly ran to her and got down on my knees.

"What is it, baby?" I anxiously asked.

"I-I think my water just broke."
