Alex' pov

Maggie went back to work a few days ago, so I was lonely again. I haven't been at the DEO for a while because our boy's been kicking hard, and I can't concentrate when there's a little ninja in my belly. Kara texted me a little while ago to ask if she could talk to me. I needed someone to have a conversation with, so I happily replied to her message. I arrived to Kara's apartment with some cupcakes.

*knock*

"Come in, Alex. Your belly is so big." Kara said.

"Wait until you see me at nine months." I joked.

"How are you doing?"

"I'm doing okay, just some kicking from our little one."

"Do you know that Mommy doesn't like that?" Kara asked to my belly.

"And how are you doing, little sis?" I asked.

"I'm fine. I really wanted to talk to you about something."

"Well, I'm here. What's the problem?" I asked, while taking a seat on the couch.

"I think Winn's planning to propose to me. I was doing laundry the other day and I took his jacket. A little box fell out of his pocket, I didn't open it because I was too scared. We've only been dating for six months. Isn't it a little too soon?"

"Well, let me tell you a secret. When Maggie and I started dating, I already knew how I wanted to propose after one month. You know why? Because she was the love of my life. Do you still love Winn?"

"Yes! It's just a big step, I'm a little scared."

"You fight aliens every single day and you're scared of a diamond ring?" I joked.

"No, it's not that. It's just a big step. I want your advice. That's why I called you."

"I can't tell you what to do, because this is a choice you have to make for yourself. The only thing I'm going to say is that marrying the love of my life was the best thing I've ever done. It's going to be okay, Kara. You love him and he loves you."

"Thank you, Alex. I'm glad that you're here." Kara answered.

"Always." I replied.

"Is there something else you wanted to talk about, because we've been talking about me all this time?"

"Well, yes. I'm a little scared."

"About what?"

"About being a Mom. Will I be a good one? I know that Maggie's good with kids. What if my son doesn't love me?"

"What are you talking about? You've been taking care of me since you were fourteen. And you're still doing it. You made me feel welcome on earth, I learned everything from you and I still look up to you. I always ask myself: 'What would my big sister do?' You give me strength, Alex. And your son will be proud to have you as his Mommy."

"Thanks, Kara. You always manage to cheer me up."

"I'm always here."

"Urgh..." I groaned.

"Are you okay?" Kara anxiously asked.

"Yes, the baby's kicking again."

"He wants a little attention from his favourite aunt. I will be there for you, too." Kara said to my belly.

"I love you, Kara." I smiled.

"I love you, too."
