5. Heartbeats

Alex' pov

I immediately jumped in my car and drove to the DEO. I panically came in and saw Mon-El talking to James, and Winn holding Kara's hand. Kara noticed me, let go of Winn's hand, and ran to me.

"Calm down, Alex... It's not good for the baby."

"Where's Maggie?" I asked with a shaking voice.

"J'onn is taking care of her.  We were busy fighting an alien when I heard a shot. The next thing I saw was Maggie lying on the floor in a pool of blood. It doesn't look good, Alex."

"But... I want to see her."

"You can't. She's still unconscious. "

Kara waited with me for an hour before J'onn came to us with blood on his hands. I immediately got up and went to him. Kara followed me with the rest of the group.

"Well, Maggie had a bullet through her chest, she lost a lot of blood. I was able to remove the bullet, but she's in a coma right now. It doesn't look so good." J'onn said.

"Can I see her?" I asked.

"Yes, in a few hours. Maggie's going to get through this, she's very strong." J'onn comforted and then, he left.

"I should call Mom and Robert." I panically stuttered.

"Calm down, Alex. I can do that." Kara replied. "You have to be with Maggie now. She needs you more than ever."

"Thank you, sis."

A few hours later, someone came up to me and showed me the way to Maggie's room. I asked Kara to come with me, because I couldn't do this alone. I entered and her body was attached to all of these weird wires. I took a seat next to her bed and held her hand.

"Hey, honey. I love you so much, so don't leave me. You are going to wake up, right? Because damn it, I need you, Sawyer. I badly need you in my life, I can't live without you. You're a fighter, and I know you can survive this. You need to live because I need you and your son needs you. It's a boy, Maggie. We're having a baby boy and he would like to know his two mommies." I sobbed.

Suddenly, all of the machines started beeping. J'onn quickly came in and started yelling.

"She's having a cardiac arrest. Get an AED, now!" J'onn screamed.

"No, Maggie! Don't leave me!" I cried.

"Kara, get her out of here!" J'onn yelled.

Kara took both of my arms and dragged me out of the room.

"Charge to 200!" I heard J'onn say.

"Charge to 300!"

"It's not working!"

"Again!"
