Alex' pov
It's been two hours since Kara left, so I started to get worried. But Kara can talk to Maggie, she can really bring the family back together. It's weird that my little sister had to do it, because Maggie is my wife. I felt worthless because I was supposed to be that person she talks to, I should be the one supporting her.
I was pacing around in the apartment when I heard Kara flying into the room.
"Hey, Kara. What did Maggie say?" I asked with a stuttering voice.
"I'm sorry, Alex. I couldn't change her mind, she already made her decision. Maggie wants a divorce." Kara replied.
"But what did you say?"
"Well, Maggie feels guilty for Wyatt's death. I said everyone deserved a second chance, and she can rely on you for that. But she said it was too late."
"She never told me that. Why? Does she even trust me?"
"Maggie does trust you, but she wants to handle this on her own. And she gave me something else..." and Kara showed me Maggie's wedding ring.
"Is that...?"
"Yes, she made up her mind. She's just waiting for you to sign the divorce papers. I'm so sorry I couldn't help you, Alex."
"It's okay. I never wanted you to be involved in this. I just thought you could help."
"It's nothing. I'm here for you if you need me."
"I never thought Maggie and I would break up. I always believed we were meant to be, she was my soulmate. And now, we are done after two years of marriage."
"It's going to be okay, Alex. You are not alone, I will be here by your side."
"I-I don't want this, Kara." I sobbed.
"I know, but I can't do this for you. You have to do it yourself. You will find someone else who is going to love you just as much as Maggie did."
"Damn it, Kara! I don't want to find someone else, the only person I want is Maggie Sawyer. She is the person I love." I collapsed.
"Alex!" Kara caught me in her arms. "I'm sorry! It's okay." She kept saying.
"I can't live without her."
"I know, but you are going to get though this, I'm here for you. Always and forever."
Kara held me tight until I cried myself asleep.
Maggie's pov
It's been about six months since Kara came by, and I'm doing okay, I think. I'm still staying at Dad's house, because I haven't found my own place yet. I haven't seen Alex lately, but Kara told me Alex was finally ready to sign the divorce papers. In a few months, Alex and I will be officially divorced. I don't know why, but that thought kinda scares me. I shared my life for more than five years with her, and five years is a long time. But this is the right thing to do.
Alex' pov
I've been doing okay besides the circumstances. I finally made some peace with Maggie's actions, I still don't agree with her but I respect her decision. If this is what she wants, I will do it for her.
But let's move on, Kara and I have been preparing her wedding for weeks now and in a few days, my little sister is going to get married to her dreamprince. I arranged everything, Kara and Winn's wedding is going to be amazing. Kara just wanted to check all the invitations for the guests.
"Are you ready for the big day, little sis?" I asked.
"Yes, the invitations for the guests are fine. I just want to ask you something. I had an invitation for Maggie. But now that you two are not together anymore..." Kara answered.
"No, invite her. She's still part of the family, even if she's my almost ex-wife. It's okay, just send it to her."
"Are you absolutely sure?"
"Yes, I don't want there to be any awkward tension between us."
"Okay. Thank you."
"No problem."
Maggie's pov
I was listening to some music when someone knocked on the door. I took my earphones off and opened the door.
"Hey, Maggie."
"Hi, Kara. If you are here for my Dad, he went to get some groceries." I surprisedly said.
"No, I'm here to give you something. It would mean a lot to me if you would be there."
"Okay..."
"Bye." and she gave me an envelop.
I opened the letter and was surprised to see the invitation.
You are happily invited to the wedding of Kara Danvers and Winslow Schott Jr.
We hope you can be present to celebrate with us.
I returned to my laptop and heard the new song.
I won't give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I'm giving you all my love
I'm still looking up
Then, I realized something.
A few minutes later, my Dad came in with some bags.
"Hey, princess. I'm home. Why are you crying? What happened?" He asked with a concerned look.
"What the hell am I doing?! I love Alex, and she loves me. I'm such an idiot, Dad. I don't want this divorce, I want her." I sobbed.
"I don't understand. Why are you so upset?"
"I made a huge mistake. I hurt her so bad."
"I still don't understand. What are you saying?"
"I want Alex."
"But you filed for a divorce. You broke up with her. And now, you want her back?" Dad asked.
"Yes, I know it's very confusing but I need to fight for her."
"But why did you suddenly change your mind?"
"Listen to this." and I gave my earphones to my father.
"What does this song has to do with your marriage?"
"That was our wedding song, Dad. I remember why we chose that song. Regardless of what happens between us, I don't have to give up on loving Alex, or loving myself, or give up on whatever my dreams are. We promised each other that we would listen to this song each time we would have a difficult moment in our life. And I broke that promise. Alex was, is and will always be my one true love. I just forgot that."
"You should maybe think about this for a second."
"No, Dad. I made a mistake and I need Alex in my life."
"Okay, so what are you going to do?"
"I'm going to win my wife back."
