Nicole POV

I wandered down the hall as you went down to make breakfast. You were right in the fact that Charlie had been anything but himself lately. I knocked on his door and in a matter of seconds he opened it with the usual polite smile.

"Hey Niks...?"

"Hey I just came to check on you...Can I come in?" He nodded and I walked into the bedroom, though it did have a nice sitting area and telly. I sat down and glanced around the room, surely the collection of kleenex on the nightstand was a dead giveaway. "What's going on Charlie."

"What do you mean..." He sat down as I pointed to the mess on the nightstand before crossing my arms.

"Don't play dumb with me Charles.... I know when one of my friends is not themselves and you are one of the few that is always happy.... What's going on..." He sighed softly and looked around the room, forcing himself to stay composed.

"My um.... girlfriend cheated on me... I've been living in the motel down the street."

"Charlie..." I sighed and got up, sitting down next to him. He engulfed me in a hug, a soft sob going through his body.

"You and Dan make it look so bloody easy." I chuckled slightly and sighed almost. Instinctively I ran my fingers through his hair and cleared my throat.

"I'm glad we make it look easy... obviously it isn't for us." He slowly calmed down, his breathing slowing down as he placed a pillow on my lap and closed his eyes.

"Then tell me about it... how do you guys make it work?"

"We just find a way... I assume no one has told you how it all started between him and I?" He opened one eye merely to evaluate my emotions. "Well Dan and I have been through hell and back. The fans use to hate me with a burning passion and well... I assume you know Dan and I weren't always perfect... there was a time where drugs were more important to me and I screwed Kyle. I screwed a lot of people and things up."

"Really? Dan never told me that..."

"Because it is one of our dark secrets... Obviously you weren't into Bastille too much considering  how many times we ended up on the news." I sighed and glanced to the window. "Dan's a saint for putting up with all my shit... the cancer.... the drugs.... all of it. I walked on him as if he was nothing at times... Yet I'll never forget that day I read the suicide note from him..." I rubbed my face with my free hand. "It put life into perspective seeing him with his wrists slashed in the closet... Christ I'll never admit it, but that is the one thing that haunts me."

"I... I never knew. Wow... maybe it hasn't been so easy for you two." He let out a weak laugh as did I.

"No one will have it easy Charlie... but I can't say forgive Sarah... I'm not saying don't forgive her either. Though I think she should have been the one kicked out. I always willing left Dan the place. I always knew when I fucked up... we're human we fuck up."

"I think Sarah doesn't want to me with me anymore... she isn't like the rest of us if that makes sense... Once I started getting into music she and I kind of grew apart."

"Well maybe that is something you need to consider..." I sighed slightly and clicked my tongue. "You can stay here as long as you like when we get back form Coachella. This house is big enough for the whole band so surely Dan really won't mind having you around. Someone to join him making music at 3...4... am in the morning."

"You really mean that?" He sat up with a half smile as I nodded.

"You all are like my annoying little brothers except Dan... and Will... but yes I really mean it. You can stay here till you get back on your feet Charlie. I know Clara finds you to be extremely entertaining and goofy so she'll be extremely exciting knowing her uncle Charlie will be here."

"Niks that means a lot to me... you really aren't how the media has made you out to be..." He chuckled and sighed of relief.

"I'll take that as a compliment... Come on, Dan's making pancakes downstairs. Surely that will cheer you up. Then tomorrow we'll be off to Coachella. Plenty of drinks and partying." I smirked getting up, stretching my limbs.

"Dan parties?"

"Eh when he has a few drinks in him... his dance moves get even better." A laugh escaped me before I wandered to his door and opened it. "I promise everything will be okay yeah? If you ever need someone to talk to just come find me. I've been probably in worse situations... I've been homeless.... empty.... it gets better.... things start to make sense and pieces fall into place. It's just part of this wild world we live in Charlie."

"Thanks Nicole... I really appreciate it."

"Any time..." I wandered downstairs and took a deep breath before heading to the kitchen. Everyone was just starting to eat and you handed me a plate. "He's gonna be okay..." I mumbled to you, rubbing your arm with my free hand. "He'll be staying with us for awhile. Till somethings settle down."

"Wicked." You smirked before pressing a kiss to my forehead. "Such a mama bear..."

"That better not be a sex reference." I chuckled before sitting down with the others and you shrugged slightly with a smirk.

"You never know darling." You sat down once you handed Charlie a plate. He seemed a bit better now, maybe knowing that he had a constant roof over his head was the calming to his storm. Or maybe it was that someone understood how he was feeling. I took a bite of my pancake and glanced to everyone. This was my family. My reason for sanity. Peace at last right? (HA.)
