"'Get home'?"

I duck below a branch and see a clearing.

Jake, Miss Peregrine and I walk into it. I glance around and see a house, that's in rubble.

"What is this place?" I ask softly as we continue walking towards a cave like entrance.

"The children's home." Miss Peregrine says.

"Children's home? But it was...blown up." I say and stop walking. "I'm going to get murdered, aren't I?" I say. Jake looks at me and shakes his head no.

"Why no, Miss Stein, you're being saved." Miss Peregrine says.

"Saved from what?" I ask as I tuck a strand of silver hair behind my ear. "The hollow-things?" I continue.

"Precisely."

I laugh and shake my head. "I'm going insane." I mumble and shake my head.

"Vivian, you're not going insane, you're quite sane, the hollows kill people like you." She says.

"Like me?" I ask.

"You're a peculiar. Miss P, how does she not know?" Jake asks the lady. She checks her pocket watch and her eyes widen.

"We really must go." She says and walks into the cave.

"Peculiar? I mean I get I'm weird but, peculiar? I don't understand." I say as I follow Jake.

"It will make sense soon." He says. A gust of wind blows through the cave and I shiver a little.

"Right, we're here." Jake says and exits the cave. I follow him and Miss Peregrine out.

I squint as we emerge from the cave. I look around after my eyes adjust and stand, confused.

"But that house was- the sun- okay. What the fuck is going on?" I ask.

Miss Peregrine looks at me and clears her throat. "Polite people do not speak such profanity." She says. She's really intimidating. I nod and gulp.

A little girl with blonde locks runs up to us.

"Hello, Claire." Miss Peregrine says. The little girl hugs her and she smiles at me. I give a small smile back. "Right, well  come along now." Miss P says and we start walking towards the house.

The door bursts open and a girl with white-blonde hair, about my height, rushes out and towards Jake. She hugs him and he hugs her back.

"Emma, I assume everything worked out?" Miss P asks her. The girl nods and looks at me.

"This is her?" She asks with a smile. Miss P nods and smiles.

"What? Am I not good enough?" I say and do a Vogue pose. She laughs a little but coughs to cover it up.

"I was just expecting someone...younger." She says and points to my hair.

I laugh a little and shake my head. "It's not naturally like this, I dye it." I say.

She looks confused and Jake whispers something in her ear. Her mouth forms a small 'o' and she nods, smiling.

"Right, well, Miss Bloom if you don't mind I'd like you to show Miss Stein around, introduce her to some of the other children. Mr. Portman, in my office." Miss Peregrine says.

Jake nods and walks off. I turn back towards Emma.

"Okay, welcome Miss Stein-"

"You can call me Vivian." I say. Emma nods and walks inside. I follow her.
