Prompt- Spencer and Reader used to date. Spencer sees the reader in danger and confesses he still loves her and fluff ensues.

You had dated Spencer in the not so distant past. It ended four months ago. You were together for a whole year and three months, even lived together for the last few months of the relationship you shared.

It all spiralled downwards from then on, though. He was working all of the time and you were struggling to cope with seeing him only at nighttime, which was strained upon even more when he had to leave for weeks at a time. You tried not to let it bother you, though. After all, you were crazy about Spencer. He was your everything and you had never been so in love before. You weren't going to give up.

The same couldn't be said for Spencer. Four months ago, he did give up. He emphasised that he was too busy for a relationship and he had to prioritise his work at this point in his life. It broke your heart into pieces, of course.

You wish you could say you held your head high, understood and said your goodbyes. You didn't.

You cried, begged and poured your heart out to him, you let yourself act weak. He controlled his emotions, and to this day you have no idea if the blank expression was a facade or not. But you knew Spencer was never good at hiding his emotions, so maybe it wasn't a facade.

Over the past few months, you had managed to pull yourself together in attempt to move on from your past and forget all about the one and only, Dr. Spencer Reid. It was the hardest thing you had ever done, but what choice did you have?

You didn't have a choice.

So, there you were, walking into the coffee shop at 8.a.m before you headed to work, where you worked as a detective and a negotiator. Your job was unbelievably difficult, that was undeniable. But it can also be so rewarding. After all, it is what you love.

You brushed your hand over your work attire, consisting of black slacks, an emerald green blouse tucked into them and a black blazer.

Your hair was tied up into a high pony tail, however loose strands of hair shaped around your face. You remembered how Spencer said he always loved your hair like this as it accentuated your facial features.

You quickly shook your head, as if it would erase the thought of him from your mind. However, it never worked.

You stepped forward in the line, taking money from your purse as you teach the counter, flashing a bright smile to the barista when she asked for your order.

"A vanilla coffee, please," you said sweetly, handing the money over to her.

As she began making the coffee, you allowed your eyes to wander around the small coffee shop. You then saw familiar long, blonde hair, making you furrow your brows. That was JJ. You then drifted your gaze to beside her. Derek. Penelope.

You could already feel your chest tighten when you saw brown, tousled hair at the edge of the small table they were sat on, having their morning coffee.

Your eyes locked onto a pair of soft, brown eyes, the ones you haven't had the privilege of looking into since he ended everything.

You were quick to look back to the barista, twiddling your thumbs. However in just that stolen glance, you noticed the light bags under his eyes, his hair was messier than usual, too.

"Make that coffee to go, please," you muttered and fixed your bag over your shoulder, proud of the neutral expression you managed to keep on your face.

You smiled as casually as you could when she handed the coffee over to you, and your fingers wrapped around the warm cup. Spinning on your heel, you quickly walked out of the coffee shop and down the street, while Spencer's eyes stay fixated on your every move until you were completely out of sight.
