After several months of training, Marcus felt very good about this group of Elves he has here. Definitely better than the men he had back at the Capitol, He thought as he looked at the group of very skilled Elves, maybe around 40 to 50 of them. Alcred had to work is butt off to get all the money to retain all of these Elves and even a few Men. He jumped on his stool to give one final speech to the soldiers, the highest ranked in the front and vise versa. He felt like these soldiers trusted or respected him.
"My fellow soldiers," Boomed Marcus, "No more wasting our time here at this grand city. No more time burning down or energy here. No more restless nights. It is time that we begin the crusade towards the Meldrion Empire!!"
The men raised their swords and red with silver shields and gave a good cheer. This must have easily annoyed some Elves and Men out there, but no time for that. Marcus jumped down the stool and lead his men towards the castle gates. Marcus wasn't thinking of taking the capitol first, that wouldn't be possible, but he could build up from villages. They went out of the gates and towards the forest after Marcus gave the guards the hail.
"So.. Whats the first plan of attack, Marcus?" Questioned one of the first Elves he recruited and became good friends, Thylrrim.
"I was planning to take out some of their villages first to gain a nice income, then scout out my old Capitol to see if we are strong enough to take it on." Responded Marcus as the army marched down the marvelous forest.
"Do you think we can take on a Capitol this fast?" Asked a female Elf, Delina.
"No, but better safe than sorry. If it looks possible then we might as well take the opportunity." Replied Marcus, as he turned away from Thylrrim and looked at Delina when he responded.
They continued their march, past the forest and to the left of the mountain where Marcus started all of this. They walked down the stone street, coming across the mountain after a few minutes of marching.
"What are you going to do to the cities." Asked Delina again.
"Well, if they comply to giving money and supplies or to join allegiance then no fighting, we just carry on and leave some men to protect the city, and see if anyone wants to join. But.... If the give a fight, we will try our best to not kill them all, but, you can never know with people." Replied Marcus, looking straight ahead, taking a moment to think before he replied.
"Oh... I hope they comply then." Said Delina.
They reached to the mountain end and continued down the trail past the hills to try and find the distant villages owned by Meldrion.
"What if we don't have any armor or weapons to give the people that do want to join?" Asked Thylrrim,
"You guys are very curious today aren't you?," Joked Marcus, "but back to your question, where do you think we got all of this armor for you people? Gottfried just conjures them. He is amazing when it comes to these things."
They continued down the stone street, going past the mountains, the Capitol so far away, it doesn't even reach sight, just the waving clouds fogging what could be there. But down the path way around 8 more miles, there should be a Meldrion village laying there. The sun glaring at the armies eyes, just inches away from the wave of clouds flowing down the sky. The hills like vast, Jade, oceans frozen still. As they strode up the somewhat steep hill, the sun was consumed by the clouds, moving like a vast army, marching down to meet the prey's doom....
Is this right?
Do these innocents deserve to die?
would I be just as cruel as Aeghard?
No....
I'm not going to slaughter...
Just to recruit....
Right?
