A Child Forgotten - Part Two
By Coby Prigg aka the Flash
At the age of thirteen this boy could see no hope,
It was all that he prayed for just to help him cope.
At nights he felt abandoned and the days were long,
Was it truly he, who was always in the wrong?
He clambered from his bedroom, preparing for another day,
Wondering in his mind how many lies he’d have to say.
His bruises were not visible, at least not to the eye,
Any who knew him truly, knew he waiting to die.
The only solace he found was in a small group of friends,
Who later all left him when he couldn’t afford their trends?
One again he was alone, by day and by night,
Perhaps it would be easier, to simply follow the light.
This boy pondered death from dawn until dusk,
Soon there was naught, but the boy’s hollow husk.
It seemed he was on autopilot, just going through the motions,
It is said to say that nobody truly grasped his notions.
He managed to find work for a local produce store,
There too however, he was abused even more.
He would never find peace; the boy knew it in his heart,
He was not handsome or happy, and neither athletic nor smart.
He begun failing at school, for he simply didn’t care,
The burden of his life had become too much to bear.
The day had ended and he made his way home,
Not so much a home, but house where he felt alone.
His parents were screaming when he walked through the door,
The anger turned onto he, it wasn’t his fault they were poor.
Perhaps it was the alcohol, or the drugs they bought,
All the boy knew was that it was he, with whom they fought.
