When I finally stopped crying I felt exhausted, I had nothing left in me, no hate, anger, happiness, sadness. I was just empty.

I loved that feeling, after every time I had a good cry.

I felt at peace.

Dad sent me a text asking me to go to the shop after school and get milk; he was staying at work late so he wouldn’t have time to get it. Since I wasn’t at school I went straight to the shop. After I got the milk I went to the gas station to fill my car up. Then I felt someone standing behind me, I turned around to face a man. He looked familiar, he looked like he was in his late forties, but he had no imperfections, no wrinkles, he had all his hair, and he seemed youthful.

"Hello Sadie." He said, smiling at me. His voice... It was so familiar, I couldn’t put my finger on it, but it sent chills down my spine.

"How do you know my name?" I asked. I knew I should have been a little freaked out but for some reason I wasn’t.

"I know everything about you Sadie. I know the pain you have suffered; I know what that monster did to you. You don’t trust Sadie, and when you did trust, he let you down, Damon hurt you Sadie."

It was like I was in a trance, everything he said to me seemed true. I couldn’t talk.

"I can help you get revenge Sadie. Damon needs to pay for what he has done to you." He said, an evil smile playing at his lips.

I nodded. I didn’t know what was happening; it was like he was thinking for me.

"You don’t need to worry anymore. Go home, live your life. I will take Damon away where he can’t hurt you anymore."

I got in my car, without paying for the gas and drove straight home.

I didn’t think about what happened, it was like it didn’t actually happen.

I was sitting on the couch when dad came home at about half nine.

"Hey kiddo, how was your day?" he asked coming into the living room, sitting on the arm chair across from me.

I looked at him, confused as to why I didn’t have an answer to his question. How was my day?

My dad looked at me confused. "Okay... Do you want take away for dinner?" He asked. Something clicked when he said take away... Damon, he was going to take him away from me! I remembered everything.

I grabbed my car keys and sprinted to the door. "I'll be back later dad, something I need to do." I shouted, closing the front door behind me before dad could say anything. I got in my car and sped off to where Damon lived, Elena had shown me where. When I got there I jumped out of my car and banged on the front door. Stephan answered quickly.

"Sadie, what are you-" he asked, looking worried.

"Is Damon here?" I asked, cutting him off. "No he went out earlier. What’s going on? Are you okay?" Stephan asked, putting a hand on my shoulder. "I think Damon’s in trouble, I have to find him." I said, tears coming to my eyes.

Stephan just nodded and followed me to my car, I didn’t object.

We drove around town fast, hoping to see Damon coming out of a bar or restaurant, hoping he was okay. We didn’t see him at all, and then something in my head told me to drive to the falls. I sped up, Stephan saying nothing, I came to a sudden halt when we reached the falls, I could see someone sitting on a rock, and I knew it was Damon. Me and Stephan climbed out of the car, but before we could do anything, a figure appeared behind Damon, holding a wooded stake. I went to scream, to warn him, but Damon stood up and turned to face him before I could, he didn’t even have time to react before the figure stabbed the stake into his chest.

"NO!" I screamed, running to him, Stephan beat me there, he jumped at the figure but he disappeared before Stephan could get him. I ran straight to Damon.

Stephan coming over as well, he looked at the stake, some relief showing on his face, I didn’t understand. He pulled the wood out making me cringe.

Damon groaned, and looked at me. He smiled weakly. I felt the tears flow down my cheeks; he lifted his hand to wipe them away.

Stephan spoke. "It didn’t pierce your heart. You need blood."

I looked up at Stephan, thinking I heard him wrong, and then I saw that Stephan looked just like Damon had in the forest, his eyes were black and the veins stood out on his marble skin.

"What are you?" I asked him, my voice shaking.

Stephan looked at me. "We're vampires."

I knew I should have run away screaming, but I didn’t. Looked down at Damon, his eyes were searching mine. Then I knew how I could help.

"My blood. Damon drink mine." I said it quickly, shivering at the thought. Stephan looked at me, scared.

Damon smiled but shook his head. "I'd rather die than hurt you." he said quietly, his life was fading away, I knew it.

"Damon please! If you die, it would hurt more than anything!" I pleaded.

He sat up a little, wincing as he did, until he was eyelevel with me.

"I was trying to protect you." He said, hurt showing in his eyes. I was still crying. "Please Damon, bite me, you have to!" I begged him.

Stephan agreed with me. "Damon you don’t need much, she'll be fine but if you don’t you will die."

Damon looked broken, he put his hand on my face and kissed me softly, and then he moved his mouth down my jaw and onto my neck, kissing as he went. He rested at the base of my neck, just before my shoulder. I put my arms around his neck, closing my eyes.

Then he bit me, it didn’t hurt like I thought it would, I went numb quite quickly. I opened my eyes and saw Stephan over Damon’s shoulder looking away. Then everything started to fade. "Damon..." I whispered before I completely lost consciousness.

I was waking up from the best sleep I had ever had, groaning, trying to get back to sleep, but it was no use, the sun was shining through my curtains making it impossible. I looked at the clock; I had an hour until school so I clambered out of bed and got in the shower.

When I was brushing in my teeth I noticed a strange mark on my neck, it was slightly bruised and sore, and I had no memory of getting it.

After pondering through my head and came up with no explanation I sighed and finished getting ready for school.

"Bye dad!" I called, walking out the front door and climbing into my car. It was a beautiful day, the sun was shining and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky, I took the hood down off of my car and enjoyed the cool wind whipping my hair back. When I arrived at school I went straight to my locker, and there was a girl waiting for me there. She had long straight brown hair and brown eyes, sort of familiar.

"Hi Sadie." she smiled. I looked at her, confused, feeling rude that I didn’t know her name but she did mine.

"Erm, hi..." I replied attentively.

She smiled sympathetically. “My names Elena. I’ve noticed you around school and I thought we could get to know each other." She said.

I smiled at the thought of a new friend. We walked to class and she went to sit next to a guy with sandy brown hair and green eyes. Her boyfriend I assume. As soon as she sat down they immediately started whispering to each other.

Then someone else walked into the classroom. He was amazingly good-looking. He had messy black hair the fell over his eyes that were a crystal blue, he looked over at me and our eyes met and something in my head screamed out, I knew him! But I didn’t know him; I didn’t even know his name.

He sighed as he sat in the seat next to me, the only empty seat left. I had to force myself to look away. I kept stealing glances at him from the corner of my eyes and every time I did he would be looking at me too, a pained look showing on his face.

When the bell rang he shot up and was the first one out of the class, I stayed seated, stunned.

Elena came over to me with Stephan, who introduced himself, again, he was so familiar to me...

When school was over I walked over to my car, and there he was, leaning against it.

"Can I help you?" I asked him, putting my bag on the passenger seat.

"Not really." He said simply, looking right at me, I could feel a blush coming on. I told myself off mentally.

He smirked. How arrogant!

"Then what do you want?" I asked, a little annoyed.

"I just wanted to say hello." He said, there was something in his eyes, something I couldn’t understand.

"Hi, Damon." I replied. I slapped my hand to my mouth, how did I suddenly know his name, it flowed out of my mouth as easily as breathing...

He looked just as shocked as I felt, then he turned around, climbed into his AMAZING black car and drove off. I stood in stunned silence before I managed to get in my car and drive home.

When I got in there was a note from my dad.
'I have to go to the next town for the night for work business.
Be home tomorrow about eight.
Dad'

House to myself tonight. Fun...

I lounged around the house until the doorbell rang, it was Elena.

"Hi Sadie." She beamed. I smiled and let her in the house.

"You’re not busy are you?" she asked sitting on the couch.

"No, the complete opposite. My dad is out of town for the night." I replied, my voice sounded a little sad.

"Did you want some company?"

I was really happy she had asked, I accepted and then I got changed and went to watch a movie.

"Do you mind if Stephan comes?"

"Of course not." I said, I didn’t mind really, after today I felt like I was already friends with him.

We waited for Stephan by the movie theatre, and when he pulled up, Damon was with him.

I grimaced, remembering earlier. When they came over I stayed silent until Stephan said hello to me. I returned his hello and looked at Damon, he was staring at me.

"Hi Damon." I said, shyly.

"Sadie." He said simply. That was the most of a hello I was going to get.

We went into the move; it was a chick flick, really boring. I found myself drifting off.

My dream was strange. I was crying, begging. "Please you can’t die!" ‘
His blue eyes looked searchingly into mine. "Please." I whispered.
A drop of something red fell on his lip, and he licked it away. Blood. But where from? Another drop fell and I saw where it had come from. My neck was bleeding. But I was happy about it? I knew that me bleeding was helping him. I was saving the vampire that I... I loved.

I woke up and gasped. I sat bolt up, noticing that I was leaning on Damon’s shoulder, he Stephan and Elena all looked at me with curiosity and so did a few other people in the movie. My head was spinning, everything, all my memories were flooding back so fast I couldn’t even process them!

I got up and sped out of the theatre, out into the car park and over to a big tree that sat by the edge. I collapsed against it, closed my eyes and breathed, going through every 'new' memory, one at a time.

I had already met Elena. We were already friends.
So were me and Stephan.
He tripped me over in the grill my first day here.
All three of us sat talking.
They drove me to school for my first day.
I had friends.
And Damon.
I knew him, I knew him so well.

I wanted to avoid him, keep him shut out like I did to everyone else, but he found a way in.
He found me when I was sat by the falls.
He saved me from death in the forest.
I kissed him, more than once.
He kissed me back.
I told him everything, even about my mum.
He left me, hurt me. But it was to protect me, he thought.
The man who made me think I wanted Damon out of my life.
He stabbed him in the chest with a wooden stake. It hurt me.
Stephan saying he needed blood.
I saved him.
And I remember Damon looking straight in my eyes. "You will forget everything."

The tears were falling from my face and I didn’t notice. I was screaming inside! How could I forget all of this!?

I screamed out loud, people passing by looking at me worried, but no one stopped to see what was wrong. Then someone was standing in front of me, I looked up and a whole new batch of tears and muffled screams of pain came.
