Damon didn’t talk all the way to the boarding house, he drove as quickly as his car would allow, which was pretty fast. We got to his in less than five minutes. He climbed out of the car and opened my door and helped me out. When we got to his door Stephan opened it for us, Damon led me to a large room with a small old fashioned couch and a beautiful fire place, the drawing room?
Damon sat me on the couch and he and Stephan stood in front of me.
"What’s going on?" I asked them.
"Let me see the ring Sadie." Stephan said.
I lifted my left hand and extended it to him, but he didn’t take my hand, he almost flinched away from it.
"That’s definitely the sun crystal." Stephan confirmed.
"What do we do?" Damon asked him.
I was getting a little annoyed of being left out of this conversation, especially since it concerned me.
"Hello, still here! Care to explain?" I asked them.
"Sadie, this crystal is a dangerous thing to vampires, and to you." Stephan explained.
"While you wear it, you have access to a power that can destroy vampires easily." Damon continued.
"A power? What are you talking about?" I was still confused.
"The sun crystal was part of four, the earth crystal, the air crystal and the water crystal. Some very powerful witches created them in hopes of controlling the elements but the power over took their minds, they started to go insane. The earth and air crystal were destroyed when the two owners fought against each other. The owner of the sun crystal didn’t turn out like that, she wanted to use her power to destroy the one thing she hated most; vampires. She killed hundreds, so the witch who had the water crystal tried to stop her. But it ended badly. Both witches died, but the crystals weren’t destroyed. So they were passed down the family line to the first daughter in each family, each time these two girls would find each other and try to destroy the other crystal, but each time the crystals were fine but the owners weren’t." Stephan explained to me simply, so I didn’t get confused.
"And now you have it. Which means the owner of the water crystal is going to find you and try to destroy you." Damon finished.
I sat in silence, taking it all in.
"But this was my mums ring..." I said, something wasn’t clicking in my brain.
"I thought of that, and I have an idea that maybe she was one of the owners of the sun crystal." Damon said.
"So the person who killed her..." I couldn’t say it.
"Is the owner of the water crystal." Damon said for me.
Stephan sat next to me. "But we don’t know if she survived or died." Stephan said to me.
"But my mum wasn’t a witch." I said.
"The line of witches stopped eventually, with witched breading with normal people it was bound to soon enough." He said.
"So what do we do?" I asked them in a whisper.
"We have to get that thing off before the power is released through you." Damon said.
"What do you mean?"
"As long as the crystal is dormant, the water crystal won’t be able to track you. But it’s not as simple as that, you don’t control the crystal, it controls you and when it thinks you need the power, you have to use it." He said to me.
