He knelt down in front of me. His face was soft and his eyes were apologetic.
I looked at him; I looked deep into his ocean like eyes, searching for something.

"What happened to me, why didn’t I remember anything?" I asked him, rubbing the tears from my face, feeling more angry than upset now.

"I compelled you. I didn’t want you to remember. You saw the monster that I am, and I didn’t want you to know me as that."

I looked at him, the way he said monster was like he was spitting dirt out of his mouth, and it hurt him, thinking he was an evil creature.

He wasn’t a monster, he was an angel to me, even though he had killed people to survive, but even angels have sins.

I leaned forward and took his face in my hands. I looked deep in his eyes.
"You could never be a monster." I said, matter of fact.
He quickly pressed his lips to mine, momentarily shocking me. Then I kissed him back. The kiss was desperate, I felt like I had missed him forever. I pulled him to me, he stood up, bringing me with him and pressed me against the tree, I felt a tear hit my cheek, but it wasn’t mine, it was his, which made me kiss him more.

We broke apart, I was still up against the tree and he was just as close, we were looking at each other, I took in every feature of his face, his eyes, his dark lashes, the silver flecks in the blue, the hint of smile lines at the corners, his perfect, marble skin, his soft reddy pink lips, the way they always ended up in a cheeky smirk, the way he only smiled with half his mouth, a crooked smile my dad called it. The way his dimples showed when he did it. His perfect gleaming teeth. I vowed to never forget a single detail of his beauty.

"Promise me you will never compel me again." I told him firmly.

"I promise." He said, and I believed him.

Elena and Stephan came out of the movie theatre and ran over to us. They seemed to know I remembered because Elena pulled me into a tight hug. "Oh Sadie, I’m sorry, they made me promise to act like I didn’t know you." I hugged her back, telling her it was okay. Stephan hugged me as well, apologising.

I smiled at all three of them. They were something special.

We all went back to my house and sat up talking, eventually Stephan and Elena fell asleep, curled up together on the sofa.

I laughed softly and looked at Damon, he was looking at me. Then he stood up, took my hand and led me up to the bed room. As soon as my door was shut he started kissing me and pushed me onto my bed. We kissed for ages. I had never been so happy, but I was getting tired, I could feel myself relaxing. He stopped kissing me. "You’re tired." He stated.
"How did you know?" I asked him, smiling.

"I can read your mind." I laughed out loud at that, remembering all the times I had thought about him and he would smirk. "It makes sense now!" He laughed with me, then I curled up into his arms and we fell asleep.

I could hear Damon breathing when I woke up; I was relieved that he was still here.
I rolled over so I was facing him, he looked like he was still asleep but after a minute of looking at him, he spoke.

"Why are you staring at me?" He asked amused, his eyes still closed.

I didn’t think before I spoke.

"I love you." I blurted out, going pink after I said it, but I didn’t wish I hadn’t.

His eyes opened and he looked into mine. We lay staring into each other’s eyes for what seemed like an eternity.

"I love you. More than anything." He said simply. I kissed his smiling mouth, then got up and went to have a shower.

"Need any help?" he asked jokingly. I chucked a cushion as him, laughing as I walked into my bathroom. When I got out, my room was empty, I called out to Damon and he answered me from the hallway. He walked in wearing jeans... and no top.

"I used your other shower." He said, looking at me confused. No wonder, my mouth was hanging open in stunned shock slightly.

I composed myself. "That’s fine. Are Elena and Stephan still asleep?"

He walked over to me slowly, smirking as he did.

"No, they left when you were in the shower; they had to go see the witch, Bonnie." He stopped in front of me; I couldn’t help glancing at his body every few seconds. I mean WOW.

"So it’s just you and me..." Damon said, running a hand up my arm, leaving tingles as he went until he rested it on my neck.

"Umm...” I mumbled. Speechless.

He leaned down and kissed me, softly at first, which then turned into the most passionate kiss we had shared yet.

He threw me on the bed, following me. We kissed a lot, my hands traced along the deep lines along his chest and stomach, my lips muffled the soft moan (or growl, I couldn’t tell) that this caused him to make.

His hands started to tug at my top, and I knew what he wanted so I took it off and continued to kiss him.

And as you know, one thing led to another...

I woke up, it was dark outside... What time was it?
Six o’clock. Dad would be home around eight. I nudged Damon awake and he smiled, eyes still closed and kissed my neck.

We got up and had a shower then got dressed. I was just making us some food when the doorbell went.

I answered and Elena stood there with Stephan and Bonnie.
She hugged me and they all went into the living room with Damon. I got us all drinks and joined them.

"So, did you two have... fun today?" Stephan asked, eyeing Damon with a grin.

"You could say that." Damon replied, smirking. Just as he said this I took I gulp from my drink and pretty much chocked and spat it out. This made everyone laugh. I could feel my cheeks burning, but no one seemed to care. This made me feel warm inside... I had real friends.

We all talked and laughed for half an hour until it came down to business.

"We had Bonnie make this for you." Elena said, passing me a necklace. "It has vervain in it; it stops vampires from compelling you, and not just Damon." She winked over at Damon, who huffed, playfully.

I put it on. "Thanks Bonnie."

"No problem. I have to go now though." She got up and stretched. "So do we." Stephan said to me and Elena, who looked a little confused.

"We have to sort out that thing we talked about last night." He prompted her.

"Ohhhh." She said, remembering. I decided not to ask questions, which was probably best.

Then again, it was just me and Damon. He smirked, reading my mind. Coming over to me, kissing me. I didn’t want to break the kiss, I enjoyed more than I should, so it though about what I was going to say. Damon stopped kissing me, leaving his lips against mine. "Your dad is coming home." He said, listening to what I thought. I smiled a little. "You don’t have to leave. He won’t mind you being here. You should meet him." I tried.

Damon pulled back a little and looked into my eyes, I could see so much in his, and there was something I couldn’t see.

"I would love to, but I better come back later. I’m going to go help Stephan and Elena." He said, pulling his shoes on. I hugged him, and he pulled me into him, I felt protected. He kissed the top of my head and left. Soon after, Dad came through the door.

"Hey Kiddo. How was your night?" He asked bringing a few bags in. I laughed at the memories. He looked at me like I was a bit... abnormal, but no difference there.

"It was a lot of fun." I said, helping him with his bags.

"I got you something." He said, digging in his pocket, pulling out a small black velvet box. "I went to see your grandmother in the hospital on the way home and she gave this to me to give to you, it was your mums." He handed me the box, and I opened it in silence, inside was a silver ring, it had a big red chrystal stone in it and the silver of the ring came up onto the stone and looped over it, keeping it secure. It was beautiful. A tear fell from my eye as I placed it on my middle finger of my left hand. My mum always had a pale line on her finger which I assume was where she wore a ring.

I gave my dad a hug. We sat for a few hours talking and watching TV. We were ordering pizza when the door went. I opened it and there stood Damon. I smiled at him and let him in. I brought him into the kitchen where my dad was.

"Dad, I want you to meet someone." I said to him, gesturing at Damon.

Damon held out his hand to my dad, who shook it, smiling. "Hello sir, my name is Damon Salvatore."
He said poshly, I couldn’t help but laugh.

"Nice to meet you Damon. Call me Chris."

I loved my dad for this, he never freaked out about these sorts of things. "We just ordered a pizza, want to join us?" my dad asked him, walking back into the living room where we followed. "I would love to." Damon said, sitting next to me on the couch.

'Very smooth. You need to teach me some of your acting skills.' I thought at him.

He smiled and winked at me.

We had just finished the pizza when we were about to watch a movie and Damon reached for my hand, but immediately shot back, a scowl on his face. Me and dad looked at him, confused. "What is it?" I asked him.

Damon composed himself. "I need to borrow your science book." He said. I took his hint that he wanted to talk in private. "Sure it’s in my room, come on." I said standing up, my dad looked a little confused but I knew it wouldn’t bother him for long. Damon followed me quickly upstairs and shut my bedroom door behind us.

"What is that on your finger?" He asked immediately, lifting my hand, avoiding touching my middle finger. I looked down and saw what he meant.

"It’s my mother’s ring." I said, examining the ring.

"Take it off." He said, his voice was questioning, like he wanted to see something. I shrugged and pulled at the ring, but it wouldn’t move. I tugged harder but it was like it was stuck on my hand.

"I can’t!" I said, worried.

"Didn’t think so." Damon said, his eyebrows pulled together slightly, like he was agitated. He pulled out his phone and dialled in a number, the person answered on the second ring.

"Stephan we have a problem. Sadie has the sun crystal." I couldn’t make out what Stephan said but Damon hung up and took my other hand. "We have to go back to mine." He said, pulling me out of my room. I told my dad we were going to meet Elena, Bonnie and Stephan for a study session, and then we got in Damon’s car and drove quickly to his.
