When we got to the boarding house Elena and Stephan were waiting for us. Dorian followed quietly behind me and Sadie, trying not to bring attention to himself.
We all walked into the drawing room and sat down to talk.
"Okay, start from the beginning. Damon?" Stephan asked.
"Well, Dorian here appeared out of nowhere and dragged me off to England to 'save' Sadie." I said, pointing to Dorian. Stephan and Elena looked at Dorian, apparently only seeing him for the first time.
"You look familiar, do we know you?" Elena asked.
"Not yet." Dorian asked. Stephan and Elena looked at each other, shrugged then looked back at me.
"Anyway, do you remember three years ago, at the party when I took Sadie home, I told you about Death? Well he appeared again, Dorian managed to get rid of him but I don't think for good. But it’s not Death were up against, the owner of the water crystal is back in the picture, they were waiting for Sadie to be back with us before they attacked."
Stephan took a big breath, taking everything I said in.
"It looks like its back to planning and practice then. Sadie can you still control your crystal?" Stephan asked.
"I don’t know, I haven’t used it since I left, I guess so." Sadie said, unsure of herself.
"Okay, we start tomorrow. Dorian, how did you stop Death? I have a feeling we will see him again."
"I’ll use the in between, leave it to me." Dorian said smiling.
"The in between?" Elena asked.
"It’s a special power some half-bloods have, we will explain another time." I said.
"Alright. I will practice with Sadie tomorrow with her power, Stephan, you and Dorian can all try and figure out when the water crystal is coming. Ask Bonnie to help." Elena said.
We all agreed with the plan, Sadie was a little worried about using her power again but she wanted to help.
It was late so we all went to bed, Dorian took the guest room and Sadie stayed in my room. It was the first time I was truly alone with her since she left. I felt kind of nervous, which was ridiculous for me.
Sadie smiled at me and came over and kissed me. I had missed her kisses so much, I deepened the kiss and pushed her over to the bed, and she willingly let me do so and pulled me down with her...
I woke up with Sadie wrapped in my arms. I smiled and kissed her head. She smiled, her eyes still closed.
"Good morning." I whispered in her ear.
"Good morning." She whispered back.
After we were up and dressed we went down stairs to find Stephan, Elena and Dorian sitting at the kitchen table talking.
"Hey guys, what’s going on?" I asked as me and Sadie sat with them.
"Dorian was just explaining more to us about what is supposed to happen and how we could stop it." Stephan said simply.
"You didn’t tell us he was from the future." Elena said excitedly.
I chuckled and turned to Sadie.
"What would you like to eat?" I asked. She looked like she was concentrating.
"Nothing. I don’t feel so good." She mumbled. She did look a little pale.
"Go back to bed; I will get you some water." I said, stroking her hand with my thumb.
She nodded and went back to my room.
Dorian looked anywhere but at me, I would have to ask him why later. I got a glass of water and went back to my room; Sadie was lying on top of my bed, already asleep.
I didn’t want to wake her so I put the glass on the table and carefully slid Sadie under the covers and lay next to her.
After a while I feel asleep too. When I woke it was dark, I couldn’t sense anyone else in the house, and I guess they went out. I looked at Sadie. Her face was screwed up in pain; she was shivering heavily and was sweating.
I sat up and pulled the cover off of her. "Sadie. Wake up." I said urgently. She didn’t wake; she muttered something I couldn’t understand.
I pulled my phone from my coat pocket and dialled Elena's number.
"Hello?"
"Elena, you and Stephan have to come home. Now. Bring Bonnie." I said quickly then hung up.
I laid Sadie straight on the bed and went to my bathroom and got a cold wet cloth then dabbed it on her forehead, she was boiling up.
Fifteen minutes later Elena, Stephan and Bonnie arrived.
"What happened?" Stephan asked, sounding worried.
"There is something wrong with Sadie. I think she is sick." I said, taking Bonnies hand and leading her into my room. She went over to Sadie and closed her eyes.
After a few minutes, Bonnie took a sharp breath.
"What is it?" I asked.
"I. I don’t... I’m not sure." Bonnie said, taking Sadie’s hand.
"I can feel something, but I don’t think it is bad." She said.
"How can it not be bad? Look at her!" I said impatiently.
"Damon, she will be fine. I can’t sense anything bad. Trust me. Just make sure she drinks and eats, she is weak." Bonnie said standing up.
I nodded and Stephan showed her to the door.
"She will be okay." Elena assured me, putting her hand on my shoulder.
"Where is Dorian?" I asked her, I hadn’t seen him all day, and I felt a strange wave of worry go through me.
“He said he had to go and see someone, he will be back in the morning." Elena said.
I went over to my bed and held the glass of water from earlier to Sadie’s lips; sure enough she sipped some through her lips.
"Damon." She murmured.
"Yes, I’m here." I said, taking her hand.
"I’m really hungry." She said, opening her eyes.
I laughed, relieved.
"I will go make you something." Elena said, and left.
"You had me worried." I told Sadie.
"Sorry." She smiled.
After a few days, Sadie was out of bed and practically back to normal. She wasn’t as energetic like always, and she was always in bed early. I guess she still felt a little weak.
"Maybe it was some kind of a bug?" Stephan asked when we were all sat in the drawing room while Sadie was in bed.
"Maybe." Elena said.
"She should feel a lot better soon." Dorian said, as if knowing what he was talking about.
"Do you know what is wrong with her?" I asked, remembering he was from the future.
"Yes, it has happened. But I can’t tell you what is wrong. It could change everything, remember." He smiled.Surly it can’t be that bad then, if Dorian is smiling, maybe just the flu.
After two weeks Dorian seemed like a part of the family, as if he always had been.
Him, Elena and Stephan were going to meet Bonnie and Caroline in the town to get shopping, we were running low on necessities.
I sat on the sofa with Sadie, hugging her to my chest and playing with her hair.
"I love you." She said.
I smiled. “I love you more."
"Nope, I love you much more." She giggled.
I went to reply but Sadie leaped from the chair and ran to the bathroom.
I got up and followed her, I found her sitting in a heap next to the toilet, and she reached up and flushed it.
"Ergh, that was horrid." She muttered.
"I thought you said you were feeling better." I said, kneeling down next to her, stroking her hair.
"I feel kind of weird." She said, rubbing her stomach.
"Time of the month?" I asked.
Her eyes grew wide and her mouth dropped open.
"I’m almost three weeks late." She said.
I wasn’t catching on. "Doesn’t that happen sometimes?" I asked.
She shook her head. "I have never been late before." She said.
We sat in silence for a few minutes then I heard the door open and Bonnie's voice.
"Hang on, I need to see Sadie." She said. Bonnie came into the bathroom and found us sitting on the floor.
"Sadie, this is kind of weird but I bought this for you, I had a strange sensation that told me to." She said, confused.
She handed Sadie a white plastic bag and walked out. Sadie opened the bag and pulled out a box.
"Is that a...”
She nodded her head. A pregnancy test.
I laughed silently to myself, Sadie wasn’t pregnant, it was impossible... wait, no it wasn’t, Dorian was proof of that.
"Can you wait outside for a minute?" Sadie said quietly.
I nodded and left her in the bathroom, then went and found Stephan, Elena and Dorian in the kitchen, Bonnie had gone home.
"Where is Sadie?" Stephan asked.
"In the bathroom." I said, staring at Dorian. He looked straight back at me; something was hidden in his eyes.
"Damon?" Sadie called my name; I quickly walked back to the bathroom and shut the door behind me.
She stared at me and I stared back.
"Well?" I asked, the suspense was killing me.
"I don’t understand Damon." Sadie whimpered, tears coming to her eyes.
"What does it say, Sadie?" I asked, putting my hands on her cheeks and wiping the tears away with my thumbs.
