The boys walked down to breakfast, bringing life to the sleeping house. Wilhelm heard Nanny in the kitchen, most likely cooking breakfast, he instinctively started to set the table for breakfast. Günther stood at the foot of the stairs before he started to help Wilhelm set the table. Mrs. Mother came from the side hall, dressed but still looked tired. She walked over to the table and took her seat before she yawned.
"Do we know what is for breakfast?" Mrs. Mother asked looking to Wilhelm and Günther. Wilhelm shrugged and peaked into the kitchen. He took in a deep breath and hummed happily.
"Mm, smells like bacon and eggs. Yummy." Wilhelm rubbed his stomach before he placed the last plate down in it's place. Günther hummed in response and rubbed his stomach as well. Mrs. Mother smiled with a nod, that really did sound delicious. Günther and Wilhelm took their seats at the table, all three of them waited patiently for breakfast.
Soon after, Nanny walked from the kitchen with a steaming plate of bacon in one hand and hot eggs in the other. She placed the plates on the table upon hot pads to keep the table from heating up too much. She then took her seat and they started to eat.
"Wilhelm, I heard some noise last night. Are you alright?" Mrs. Mother asked before taking a small bit of eggs. Günther looked to Wilhelm as he ate and Wilhelm thought of how he could explain what happened.
"Well, you see mother, Günther wasn't having any luck sleeping in the room upstairs. So I invited him to stay in my room. We stayed up playing before we got tired. Sorry if we disturbed you mother." Wilhelm explained looking down to his plate in fake shame. Mrs. Mother nodded calmly and took a drink of her orange juice.
"Next time be more quiet please." Mrs. Mother said taking another bite of her eggs. Nanny ate quietly, as did Günther and soon after the end of that conversation all of them ate in silence. Nanny thought about her plans for cleaning the house and Mrs. Mother thought about settling down for the day with a good book. Wilhelm was dwelling on the fact his lie worked, thinking he was a genius now. Günther thought about his mother, her passing and how much he missed her. He felt the tears about to fall and he rubbed them away before they could be spotted.
Breakfast soon was over and Nanny took the dishes into the kitchen to clean them. Mrs. Mother stood from the table and walked back down the side hall. Wilhelm and Günther walked up to Wilhelm's room to maybe play or talk.
"So Günther, what would you like to do today?" Wilhelm asked as they walked into his bedroom. Günther walked to the window, sat and looked out to the morning sky. The buildings seemed to shine almost and the sun looked orange in the sky. He thought about what they could do.
"I don't know, take a walk? Go play at the park? What do you want to do?" Günther asked looking over to Wilhelm. He thought, park, walk, stay here or talk? He didn't really know what to do himself. All these choices sound great but actually staying away from the S.S soldiers would be good to do. He reached his answer.
"How about we stay here and talk or play." Wilhelm said looking to Günther for an answer. He nodded with a smile.
"Sounds great! Let's play." Günther said jumping up with joy. Wilhelm laughed and ran towards Günther. He whacked his arm and ran to the door.
"Tag! Your it! Your it!" Wilhelm laughed, Günther playfully scowled at him and chased after him. Wilhelm ran down the stairs and through the house, Günther close on his tale. They ran around the living room, through the kitchen and back up stairs. The house shook as Wilhelm slammed the door to his room. Günther ran into the door and landed back on the floor. He rubbed his head as a red mark appeared on his forehead. Wilhelm slowly opened the door with a bright smile. Günther jumped up fast and slammed his whole body into the door. Wilhelm fell back on the floor Günther on him laughing loud.
