Wilhelm locked the door to his room after Günther entered the room. Wilhelm had a great idea to make it so that Günther can stay and not have to hide. Both the boys patted themselves dry. Wilhelm walked to his dresser, pulled out the clothes he was going to wear and grabbed some of his older clothes for Günther. He handed the clothes to Günther.
"You will wear these okay? And I have a plan for allowing you to stay here without having to hide." Wilhelm explained before pulling his clothes on. Günther nodded hesitantly to Wilhelm and dressed as well. Wilhelm wear a dark grey long sleeve shirt and brown shorts, while Günther wear a smaller white t-shirt and deep blue shorts. Günther looked to Wilhelm and took a breath.
"So what is your plan?" Günther asked walking over to the bed and sitting on it. Wilhelm nodded and sat next to him on the bed. He took a second to think of how to explain his plan before explaining.
"Since the war started, your father was forced to go join the war to fight for Germany. Your mother died giving birth to you so you have no where to stay. You chose to pack a bag and come live with me. As long as it is alright with mother. I'm sure it will be, you are small and cute, she couldn't resist." Wilhelm explained. Günther stared at him for but a second before smiling with a nod.
"But what about when the war ends?" Günther asked, still smiling and appeared very calm. Wilhelm thought, coming up with a result fast.
"Your father never returns from war and you don't get a letter from the army because they didn't know about you. I don't think we'll get that far though." Wilhelm said, Günther smiled again looking to Wilhelm and nodded.
"When is this happening?" Günther asked, Wilhelm nodded, grabbed an older duffel bag of his and began to stuff his old small clothes into it. "Oh this is fun, it'll be just like playing dress up but I get to keep the clothes." Günther giggled as he watched Wilhelm pack the bag.
"Today is already almost over but if we hurry, you could 'come over' today." Wilhelm said with a small smile towards Günther. "Hide under the bed, I'm gonna call for Nanny." Wilhelm said. Günther nodded, stood from the bed and crawled underneath it, Wilhelm pushed the duffel bag under the bed with him. Wilhelm stood and opened the door, "NANNY," he called down the stairs. Günther held the bag in front of him and hid behind it. Nanny walked into Wilhelm's bedroom with a sigh.
"What do you need?" Nanny asked as she stepped into the room. Wilhelm scuffed and glanced at his bed. He to a second to think of what it was he wanted to say, looking back to Nanny, he spoke.
"I have a friend from school. His father had to go off to the war, his mother died at birth and he has no where to stay. Is it okay if he stays with us till the war ends?" Wilhelm asked sincerely. Nanny took a moment to think.
"I suppose so, but we will still have to ask your mother. She owns this house." Nanny said. "When is he coming over?" Nanny asked as she turned around, ready to leave. Wilhelm nodded.
"I actually told him I would go get him. He's waiting at the park now." Wilhelm said looking to his bed again. Facing the exit, Nanny nodded before leaving.
"You will go there, get him and come right back." Nanny said from the top of the stairs. Wilhelm closed his door some. He turned to the bed and knelt next to it. He didn't see Günther there, only the bag. Wilhelm grabbed the bag and spotted Günther behind it. He smiled, Günther had been hiding, smart. Günther looked up to Wilhelm and gave him a cheeky smile. Wilhelm shook his head and set the bag down.
"Did you hear any of that?" Wilhelm asked. Günther appeared from behind the duffel bag, nodding with a smile. "Okay, then take the bag, climb down the rose vein and meet me outside." Wilhelm explained handing Günther the duffel bag and pushing him slightly towards the window. Günther started to go out the window but paused.
"Wait, we are supposed to meet at the park. The park is four blocks away." Günther gave Wilhelm a questioning look as he started down the vein again. Wilhelm walked to the window and looked down to Günther.
"I guess we'll be walking four blocks then."
