Wilhelm jumped up and knocked heads with Günther. He fell back rubbing his temple while Wilhelm rubbed his. Realization filled him and he looked out the window. The setting sun smiled down at him, the skies were mixing with color, no smoke. The buildings were still standing, people were calmly walking through the streets and no soldiers were killing any of them. It was just a nightmare. Wilhelm sighed and looked over to Günther. Said boy still sat on the floor rubbing his head. Wilhelm noticed pink irritation under Günther's eyes and knew he had been crying.
"Hey, you okay?" Wilhelm asked moving to sit in front of Günther, who hugged him tight as soon as he sat down. Wilhelm was taken aback and slowly hugged him in return. Günther sniffled and sobbed quietly.
"I dreamt of my mama. She told me she would always be with me and if I got into trouble, you would be here with me. To help me." Günther's sobs grew as he clenched fists full of Wilhelm's shirt. Wilhelm rubbed Günther's back trying to comfort his cries. Speaking softly that it was 'okay' and 'there is no reason to cry'. Sniffling, Günther wiped his nose and looked up at Wilhelm. "Thank you." He spoke happily, a bright smile upon his face. Wilhelm couldn't fight the urge to smile back.
"You're welcome." Wilhelm said, not even a second later, there was a growl that came from Günther's stomach. Both boys giggled before standing. "Good thing it is dinner time." Wilhelm said walking out of the room Günther behind him with a bright smile still on his face. Nanny was setting the table when they got down stairs.
"Have a nice nap?" Mrs. Mother asked them as she walked from the same hall as before. Günther nodded happily while Wilhelm sort of shrugged with a small nod. They had completely different dreams, only Wilhelm knew. He could tell Günther's dream of his mother impacted him positively with the way he seemed to not stop smiling at everything. Wilhelm's nightmare affected him slightly, he would smile just not as much as before. He couldn't stop thinking about if that happened.
Dinner went just as the night before had, small talk as they ate, Wilhelm doing the dishes after with the aid of Günther. The boys walked up to Wilhelm's room for the night after they finished the dishes. Günther had so much more energy than Wilhelm, he sat awake in the bed. Wilhelm was tired, much more tired than the night before and he just wanted sleep. He laid in his bed, eyes shut, ready for sleep. Günther looked over to him and sunk down into the blankets next to Wilhelm.
"Wilhelm?" Günther asked, his voice small in the silence of the room. Wilhelm groaned in response, urging for sleep to take him away. "What will I do when you go off to school?" Günther's question appeared sudden to Wilhelm and his eyes shot open. He turns his head to the side and looked at Günther. Out of all he had come up with for his plan, school was not one of them. Wilhelm was forced into thought, wanting to give Günther the answer he deserved. A quick thought came to him and he spit it out not thinking of anything.
"You could wait for me at the park." Günther didn't smile nor did he frown, he just nodded and rolled over, Wilhelm felt bad, did he want to come with me? Wilhelm thought in confusion. "Günther, do you have an idea?" Wilhelm asked, rolling onto his side to face the same direction as Günther. He didn't get a response. Günther just seemed to be ignoring him. "Günther?" Wilhelm asked tapping on the boy's shoulder. Günther looked over at Wilhelm, what looked like a slight glare was upon his face. Wilhelm was confused, he raised an eyebrow in question. "Um, do you have any ideas? We could try and get you into first grade?" Wilhelm asked, thinking out loud. Günther's eyes gains some light and he smiled small.
"Okay, what is school like? I've never been to one. Are they fun?" Günther asked with hints of excitement in his voice. Wilhelm got him back, the happy Günther. He sighed with a small smile in return.
"Let's talk out the details tomorrow okay? School starts on Monday. For now, sleep. I'm tired." Wilhelm explained a reasonable outcome. It was night, everyone was sleeping, so they should sleep as well. Günther huffed with a nod before closing his eyes. Wilhelm nodded and closed his own eyes.
"Goodnight Wilhelm." Günther breathed out softly. Wilhelm couldn't help but smile some. Günther was actually asleep before Wilhelm, he was a bit shocked.
"Goodnight."
