It was a warm day in the middle of spring and you and Namjoon were walking hand in hand down a dirt pathway. He was rambling on about something to do with the way the cherry blossoms were blooming. You didn't understand what he was saying because you were paying more attention to the blossoms than him. However, you started to notice that the longer you talked the more muffled his voice became. Something felt off. You turn you turn your head to look at him and suddenly he's not there. You could still feel his hand in yours but you could no longer hear or see him. Panicking, you look around, trying to find him.
An alarm went off signaling that it's time to wake up and get ready for school. Groaning, you stretched before reaching for your phone to turn your insistent alarm off. It's 5:30am and you had twenty minutes to get ready. Luckily you had showered the previous night so you didn't have to worry about taking the time to shower and dry your hair. Throwing on whatever shirt you found in your closet, which happened to be a Green Day T-shirt, and a pair of jeans you walked into the bathroom. Finding your hairbrush in the bottom drawer, you quickly brushed your hair before throwing it into a ponytail and brushing your teeth. It was so early in the morning that you didn't feel like putting on any makeup. You didn't have time to anyways as your father yelled at you to hurry up otherwise you were going to be late.
It was the same thing everyday. Your father was always yelling at you to hurry up otherwise he'd be late to work and if he was late to work then he'd get in trouble and therefore lose his job. It was an inconvenience to you because it meant you had to be at school an hour and a half before it even started. It was absurd but still better than having to walk three miles to get to school. You already had to walk home so there was no way you were also walking to school.
You get downstairs and go to the kitchen. Your kitchen was small with only a little counter, a few cupboards, a sink and dishwasher, and stove. Your pantry was barely a pantry and was a complete mess. Quickly assembling a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, you stuff it in a bag and run outside. You hopped into your dad's car and put your seatbelt on, ignoring your father's lecture on how you need to be faster. Your thoughts drift back to the dream you had. You had no idea who that man was as you had never seen him before. You had never even dreamt of him before until last night. You didn't put too much thought into it though. It was probably just one of those dreams that seemed real but wasn't.
You were a ninth grader at Sunset Ridge High School. Nothing about it was exciting. The teachers were all bland and the students were all annoying. You've thought about murder more than once but your conscience told you not to burn the school down because if you do you'd get caught and then your life would be over. You still had things you wanted to accomplish in life. You may have a strong desire to die or murder but you still wanted to meet people like Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun.
At least it was the last week of school and then summer would come. The thought of finals being so soon was stressing you out. Your friends and you had formed a study group over Skype and all you'd do is ask a bunch of random questions to make sure you all knew the answers. Though there was one friend that didn't seem so stressed and would not stop talking about K-Pop. Quite frankly, it was annoying. You needed to study because you needed to pass your tests. You didn't have time to listen about some band having a comeback or whatever the term she used was. You didn't care.
Upon arriving to school, you walked to the lunch area and sit on a bench before taking out your study guide. You had to memorize a bunch of vocabulary words for half of your Spanish final. Not only that but you also had to memorize lines to a skit for the other half of your final. Your teacher was the worst and extremely racist and sexist. The thought of having to deal with that for two and a half hours made you want to cry. He didn't even teach Spanish. He just gave you work to do and called that teaching while he went on to insult everyone at the school.
School started and you went through all your classes easily. Everything was about reviewing what you had learned this past semester. Tomorrow was when finals would start and you weren't sure how ready you were. You spent every waking moment preparing for your tests. You only got about an hour's worth of sleep that night.
Finals breezed by and soon you were celebrating the fact that it was now summer. You spent most of your time sleeping, eating, and watching Netflix. Literally nothing exciting happened all summer. You just repeated the same thing over and over again until finally school began again.
Tenth grade started and you had your sixteenth birthday. Time flew by and you hadn't had another dream about that one dude. In fact, you had completely forgotten about it. The friend who was obsessed with K-Pop, Jasmine, was obsessing about some band called Behind The Scenes' comeback and all these different theories. At first you had thought it was a Twenty One Pilots thing because of the black and white circles but apparently it wasn't. That was slightly disappointing because you thought that finally you'd be able to relate to your friend.
Another month passed and now it was Thanksgiving break. You invited your friends over to watch a movie so you could do your history extra credit. However, that is not what you did. You ended up playing games and listening to music. You had put on the K-Pop station on the radio simply because your best friend mentioned how they were starting to like it so you wanted to play the music for them. The first song that played was "Monster" by EXO. That's when it all started.
After that night you started listening to more songs. At first you only knew EXO and hardly listened to them but as weeks passed, you found out about BTS, Monsta X, GOT7, and more. K-Pop was like a whole other world. It was like nothing you had ever known before. All the idols were so interactive and kept you engaged in their platforms. There was even an app that you could watch live streams on! It was nothing like the western artists you used to listen to.
Before, you were pretty damn emo. You were constantly listening to the most depressing and emo music to exist. Now that you were listening to K-Pop, you realized how sad your life was. Things around you got brighter. You stopped talking to people who weren't good for you and all your social media accounts turned into K-Pop accounts.
It took you a few weeks to find Rap Monster. It took another week to learn his face, voice, and name. At first you said that V was your BTS bias and then it was J-Hope. The last person you said was your bias was Rap Monster. You didn't think that you could bias him but you were more than wrong. He became your ultimate bias. You loved everything about him. From the way he spoke to the way he smiled.
Soon you became completely immersed into the K-Pop world. Your friends found out about a BTS concert in your state and you managed to get tickets for the front row. You were more than excited for the concert because never in your wildest dreams could you have imagined your parents letting you go to a concert. Not to mention you'll be seeing your ultimate bias. The fact that you'll see him up close had you screaming at 2am and waking everyone on the street up.
