Chapter 14

Y/N
Lunch time had passed with you eating a sandwich and walking around the hospital in loneliness. At these times, you would either spend time with Suga or with Iseul. But it seemed like neither of them were here.
You had left Taehyung's file to be, not wanting to make your heart wrench anymore. As lunch break was about to end, you decided to sneakily visit Yoongi. The patient you yearned to talk to all this time.
You walked up to the nurse at the front desk, asking for Yoongi's room number.
"We're sorry mam, but we don't have a patient named Yoongi enlisted here at this hospital." The nurse frowned in confusion looking down through he list of patients.
"Mm? But one of the doctors have them as their patient. I even saw a medical file about them. You must be checking the wrong list." You stammered in puzzlement.
The nurse shook her head in disagreement as you sighed deeply.
"Then could you call in that patient #306, Suga, has been missing since the morning."
The nurse nodded as she picked up the phone. You turned around to head back when you were met with Iseul furrowing one of her eyebrows.
"Y/N, sneaky aren't you?" Iseul queried.
You bit your bottom lip anxiously, waiting for what Iseul had to say.
"I mean... I really wanted to meet the patient. He seemed to have been having a tough time like Taehyung sunbaenim." You lowered your head, looking down at your feet.
"Wait- You went through Yoongi's medical profile even after I told you not to?!" Iseul grit her teeth as an worried expression knit over her face.
"I'm sorry, I really didn't mean to..."
"Y/N, you're breaking the number one rule of HIPPA, patient confidentiality." Iseul sighed, sounding disappointed, "You need to learn to stop going through private stuff, it has a bad effect on your cover and responsibility as a licensed doctor?" At this point, you were practically having a heart aching moment thinking of how you had created a mess of yourself.
"Anyways, I guess you do need to know some things too. It's not just you, but me and Taehyung keeping secrets from you and leaving you out is also pretty disrespectful. So if you have nothing scheduled so far, let's go to the office. I'll explain everything."
A faint smile lit across your face as you looked up again, seeing a tired smirk on Iseul's face.
"But you do know some secrets aren't meant to be spilled to everyone. Even after telling you a lot today, there still will things that I wouldn't want the ones I care for to know."
You nodded, agreeing on the outside but on the inside you frowned in confusion.
Aren't you suppose to share the secrets and thoughts with the ones you love and care for? Not hide them from each other. But you let it go.
Iseul opened the door for you to the office as you entered and sat on the couch in the middle of the room.
"So, if you did read the file sneakily," Iseul glowered as you, but it soon washed away, "you should know Yoongi's condition and how he was also suffering through similar conditions as Taehyung sunbaenim."
You nodded.
"That's what I thought for the longest time. It was heartwarming to me, hearing how he had the stolen medication that could cure his condition right under his nose, yet he used it for his older brother." You widened your eyes realizing this. "But he did steal from our beloved sunbae, so I guess that side kicks in."
"When I graduated Med. school and became a doctor, Taehyung entrusted in Jimin sunbae and me to take his medical tests. In which I did, to find the results shocking."
"What was so shocking? Didn't you know about his conditions before?"
"Yeah, but these results were completely off from what he had described to me."
You tilted your head, forming an anxious expression.
"You're pretty cute when you're a good listener." You grit your teeth in disgust hearing this.
"Just get to the point already!" You complained.
She took a deep breath. The anxiety evident in her quivering sigh.
"His results were negative. It held no records of any medical illness or disease that had infected him, shortening his life."
No words uttered out of your mouth. Speechless. Confusion?
"I know. That's how I reacted. You must have so many questions fogging your head." Iseul chuckled lightly as she ran a hand through her hair.
"How? Why? What?"
Iseul placed her elbow on her knees as she cupped her face like a flower.
"Mmm... well after calling several different hospitals that had done medical tests on Taehyung sunbae, I finally found the first hospital that had started this misconception." One of her hands limply fell down, tightly grasping the edge of the couch.
"The same hospital where Yoongi, his brother and mostly everyone who was the victim of this illness had went to, was where Taehyung had also gone at first."
You puckered your lips like a duck, waiting patiently.
"Apparently, the hospital had messed up since the beginning when the results had come out. One of the nurses that was in charge of organizing the papers and files had by accidently switched Taehyung sunbae's results with someone else's."
You had been drawing circles on your pants, but had came to a complete halt after hearing that. Your mouth formed into an O as your eyes widened immensely.
"Yup, that's how I reacted back then. And Taehyung sunbae doesn't know this at all. He still thinks that he has the illness, which is wrong."
"Why didn't you tell him unnie?"
"Because it would have bad side effects. Sure he would've been happy all this time, but I just couldn't get the urge to. It felt as if you were telling your child that he or she was adopted, and from a way better family than the present one."
You formed your lips in a line in worrisome.
"And I do feel sorry, but I think it was the right thing to do. And even Jimin sunbae knows that the medical results were switched with someone else."
"What? How?"
"Because it was switched with one of our patients."
You tilted your head once again, it becoming a habit of yours when you were confused.
"It was never Taehyung sunbae who had the illness, but someone else, by the name of Min Yoongi."
