Showcase week. Seven days jam-packed with events to show off just what AAG students can do. A film festival, sports games, art galleries, a ballet production, and so much more. It was the week when students proved just how dedicated they were; all non-showcase related classes were cancelled, leaving lots of free time. The students who genuinely cared spent most of that time working, and the ones who didn't usually left the school within a few months.

Michael was tired. He was so freaking tired and Calum had lapped him at least twice. Luke was lying in the middle of the track, "resting." That meant he had panted for a few minutes before grabbing his backpack and removing his paint and brushes from it. The artist was in the middle of painting his arm and humming a strange mix of terrible pop music and Black Veil Brides songs.

Ashton was loping gracefully, just a little ways behind Calum, his thin shirt billowing in the gentle breeze. While the other three wore black soccer shorts and grey or black sleeveless tops, Ashton was clad in soft yellow short shorts and a white top. Michael was very fond of the light-coloured outfit against the boy's tanned skin, but he was not fond of the hot Australian sun that caused that tan. Sweat dripped down the tech-loving boy's nose and forehead and cheeks, it soaked his newly dyed hair and plastered the ebony locks to his ivory skin.

"I'm out of space!" Luke called, gaining Michael's attention. The pale boy happily took the chance to leave the track, and weakly stumbled to his boyfriend's side. He collapsed by Luke's side, holding out an arm for the artist to paint.

"Why couldn't Cal like competitive sleeping?" Michael mumbled. The four boys were helping one another prepare and practice for showcase week, a choice Michael was starting to regret. He obviously loved the company of his official boyfriends and Ashton, but running around a gigantic blue track was not exactly his idea of a good time. But the pale boy contented himself with observing. He observed Luke as the artist painted, squinting in the way that he always did. Michael observed Calum's determined expression, perspiration slicking his hair and dripping off his sharp jaw. It was one of the rare times that the footie player wasn't laughing or smiling. Lastly, Michael observed the adorable way Ashton ran, with his nose slightly scrunched and his tongue poking out between his teeth. The boy was lithe and he always looked so delicate, like a tiny fairy that needed to be protected. But he wasn't; Ashton was strong from intense training and hard work. Michael observed the golden skin of his thighs and arms that wrapped around toned muscles.

"You're really lucky you have two boyfriends already," Luke commented, distracting Michael from his gazing. "You could never pick up guys without us." Michael made an indignant sound, turning his body towards the artist. "You're staring at Ashton like a creep," Luke elaborated.

"I'm not staring, I'm observing," Michael retorted.

"It's the same thing," Luke informed, before changing the topic. "How's your short film going? You chose to animate it, right?" Michael nodded before replying.

"It's alright," he said. "It's just hard to make all the characters look the same. Any chance you want to take over for me?" Luke laughed with his pink tongue sticking out between ivory teeth, leaning against his boyfriend's side. The artist dropped his paintbrush, using his free hands to pull himself onto Michael's lap. They rubbed noses fondly, and Luke tugged gently at the boy's pitchy hair. "Don't pull it out," Michael murmured.

"Stop dyeing it," Luke retorted.

"Not a chance," Michael said, distracting his boyfriend with gentle kisses. The blonde ignored the fact that paint was transferring from Michael's arm to his shirt, though the paint on Luke's arm had already dried.

"You're making me jealous," Calum commented, as he tiredly jogged to their side. The soccer player had managed to wipe most of  the perspiration off his face during his cool-down stretches, but Luke and Michael still groaned dramatically when Calum kissed them. Even with the dramatics, Luke pulled him onto his lap, and Michael groaned dramatically at the extra weight. He shoved his boyfriends off of him, and replaced them with Ashton, who had followed Calum.

"Hey, Ballerina Boy," the black-haired boy said, speaking softly in Ashton's ear. The tawny blonde was sweaty, and he'd shoved his curls away from his face, but a single strand was stuck to his tanned forehead. It was adorable. "How was the jog?"

"Tiring," Ashton giggled, leaning his head back on Michael's shoulder. Calum and Luke shifted to sit in front of the two boys, and the artist reached around Calum to pull Ashton's lanky legs onto the Maori boy's thighs. "What're you painting for the gallery?" the ballerina asked, addressing Luke.

"I have two pieces done, but we can submit a maximum of three, and one usually gets chosen. I was hoping you could help me with the third?" Luke said, resting his hands on Ashton's ankles. "I just want to watch you rehearse for the showcase, and I'll sketch," the artist explained, absentmindedly drawing circles on Ashton's bare skin. Michael felt the boy shiver in a way that reminded him of his excited-nervous tingles when he went on his first date with Calum. The footie player and technology-loving boy had started dating when they were thirteen (well, they held hands and giggled innocently at each other), and Luke became a part of the relationship when they were all roughly fifteen. The polyamorous relationship had been somewhat awkward at first, mostly because of the other kids who had always asked about it, but it worked out.

"Sure." Ashton agreed to Luke's request with a sweet and innocent smile. "Do you want to go in a few minutes?" Luke nodded, smiling brilliantly.
