❥Sixteen❥
Ashton bounced on one foot as he yanked his shoe on, a rose pink high top with white laces that whipped around his ankles as he bounced around his room. Moondust was curled up on the ballerina's bed, his ears perked up as he listened to Ashton's tired groans as he repeatedly hit his head on the roof. The teenager finally got his shoe on, though he accidentally kicked his foot out and fell sideways. Luckily, he landed on his bed next to Moondust. The rabbit looked up with big brown eyes, inching forward to bump Ashton's nose with his. The ballerina giggled fondly, petting Moondust's soft fur.
Before the boy could get too distracted, there was a small knock at the door. Ashton opened it to reveal Lauren, Harry, and Anne Marie. Harry and Lauren ran inside happily, kneeling by the bed to play with Moondust. Meanwhile, Ashton handed a list of instructions to his mum and grabbed Moondust's cage. "We won't keep you," Anne said, hugging her son quickly. "Have fun in Paris." Ashton grinned, hugging his family goodbye and dropping a kiss on his bunny's nose.
"Bye, sweetheart," he cooed, stroking Moondust's silky ears. With that, Harry, Lauren, and Anne Marie left. Ashton walked to stand in front of his mirror, picking at the rabbit fur that'd attached itself to his clothes. He wore a comfortable outfit for the flight to Paris: grey leggings under an oversized sweater that hung off one of his shoulders. The fuzzy fabric was pastel pink, just a few shades off from his high tops. Ashton adjusted the white beanie he'd donned, with honey-coloured strands of hair curling around his face.
Calum, Luke, and Michael suddenly entered the room, each clad in sweatpants. Michael wore a black hoodie and grey pants, Calum was in a white t-shirt and black sweatpants, and Luke wore a paint-speckled flannel and grey pants. "Hey, cutie," Calum said, smiling fondly at the sight of Ashton's exposed shoulder and mainly pink attire. The three younger boys wrapped Ashton in a hug as greeting, leaving their luggage in the doorway.
"We meet outside the main doors, right?" Ashton asked as they separated, grabbing his baby blue bags. One was half his size, stretched to accommodate all his possessions, and the other was his carry on—a backpack with a mess of key chains hanging from the zippers.
"Yeah," Michael confirmed. "We're taking buses to the airport." With that said, the four teenagers walked through the school, dragging heavy suitcases along behind them. The large building was filled with noise; the sound of laughter and excited chattering, complaints about the early hour, and bags screeching against the smooth floors and walls.
But inside the buses was even worse. As Ashton entered the vehicle, struggling with his suitcase, it felt like someone had just placed headphones over his ears with a cacophony of voices blasting full volume. "Holy fuck," Michael said, and even though he was right behind Ashton, the ballerina could barely hear him. That simple statement summed up the entire ride to the airport. Calum, Luke, and Michael all squeezed into one tiny seat, with Ashton precariously balanced on their lap. The four boys spent the ride attempting conversation, although a large majority of it was shouted what's.
Making their way through the airport was hectic, and the AAG students got a lot of dirty looks, but eventually, the students were seated on the plane. Ashton, Michael, Luke, and Calum somehow managed to get four seats together, at the very back of the plane. Michael sat by the window and Ashton was next to him, followed by Luke and then Calum.
After the plane took off, the boys chatted softly for all of thirty minutes. As soon as they hit the thirty-one-minute mark, Michael looked at Ashton with a mischievous look. He got out of his seat and kneeled in front of Ashton, pulling something from his pocket. It was a plastic ring he'd randomly found in his suitcase whilst the four boys were packing. "Caramel Drizzle," he started, winking at Ashton. "Will you marry me?" Ashton was a surprisingly talented actor, feigning a gasp and clutching his chest.
"Of course," he said. Michael grabbed the boy's hand, attempting to slide the tiny ring onto Ashton's finger. It got stuck at his first knuckle, and Michael had accidentally put it on the ballerina's right hand, but everyone else on the plane clapped anyways. The AAG kids were used to the four boys' antics and went along with it, whilst the flight attendants genuinely believed their act. One of the attendants scampered off to the front of the plane and made an announcement.
"Congratulations to Caramel Drizzle and his significant other on their engagement!" Ashton giggled as she said it, his cheeks tinting pink.
"Why Caramel Drizzle?" he asked Michael, his voice soft and giggly.
"It's your stripper name," Michael responded simply, ruffling his green hair. Before any more could be said, a grinning flight attendant walked up with a large bottle of non-alcoholic champagne and four glasses.
"Happy engagement!" she cheered. "Are you two the best men?" she continued, addressing Calum and Luke.
"We're Caramel's side-hoes," Calum quipped. Michael's raspy laughter, Ashton's thickly accented giggle, and Luke's high-pitched chortle echoed throughout the entire plane.
"Thanks for the champagne!" Luke managed through his laughter, popping the cork and watching it bounce violently off of the roof and fly back to hit the artist's nose. The four teenagers nearly fell out of their seat as they cackled.
