*4 years later*

Lance had tears welling up in his eyes as he watched Keith get her dressed for her first day of Pre School.

"Papa, why are you crying?" she asked Lance, a small look of worry on her face.

"My baby is growing up!"

"Relax Lance. She's no growing up too fast." Keith said, chuckling at his husband's dramatic crying.

"She's already four Keith! Four! In a few years she'll be graduating high school! And then she'll go to college! And then she'll be married with kids! And-"

"Lance! Calm down! You're scaring her!"

Lance looked at his daughter to see her eyes were wide, and her ears had gone back in shock/ slight fear. Lance scooped her into his arms and kissed her forehead.

"I'm sorry my child (I wrote this fanfic back in high school and was cringe trying to type in Spanish 😳). I'm just gonna miss you so much." he held her close, and nuzzled her head.

"I won't be gone too long Papa. But I have to go because I'm a big girl!" she exclaimed, smiling.

Keith couldn't help but smile at this. He joined his small family for a group hug.

"Remember what we talked about. Don't let those kids make fun of you. Understand?" Keith asked his daughter, looking her in the eyes. She nodded. Keith and Lance had had a small talk with her just a few weeks prior, after they had received weird looks while at the grocery store.

"I won't Mama. If they do, I won't even cry." She was so proud of herself, and honestly her parents were too.

"That's my girl!" Lance shouted, spinning her a bit. She laughed. Keith looked at the alarm clock on his nightstand. 7:45 a.m.

"Ready to go?"

Lance nodded slowly, and Lana was beaming with excitement. As Lance and Keith took her out of the car they received weird looks, as expected.

"I wanna go in by myself." Lana said, smiling, looking at the other young boys and girls going in by themselves.

"Are you sure?" Keith asked her. She nodded.

Lance and Keith said their goodbyes and hugs were exchanged. As she walked into the building with the other kids, Lance was sobbing, and even Keith had begun to cry.

They drove back home and Lance was on the verge of panicking.

"What if they pick on her?! What if she gets in trouble?! What if no one plays with her?! What if-" His sentence was cut off with a kiss.

"Relax. Everything's gonna be fine." Keith wrapped his arms around Lance and gave him a reassuring smile.

Lance sighed "It's quiet......" He looked down, tearing up. Keith noticed this and hugged him tighter.

"It's okay. I know you miss her a lot. I do too. But you know we were preparing for this day."

Lance buried his face in Keith's shoulder, and Keith pet his head. Keith took him up to bed where they snuggled for a while. Lance didn't want to admit it, but it was nice to snuggle in bed, without interruptions.

"Feeling better?"

Lance nodded, burying his face deeper into Keith's chest.

At around 2:30 they left the house to go pick Lana up. They pulled up to the school and got out of the car to wait for her. Lance was tapping his foot, anxious to see her. When the teachers came out with the preschoolers Lance and Keith saw Lana talking with some other kids. Lance relaxed a bit, and they both smiled as they watched her making friends. She turned around and practically tackled them.

"MAMA! PAPA!" she shouted, running up to them. Lance scooped her up and spun her around. Keith laughed a bit before forcing Lance to stop spinning her, as he was making a scene.

"I missed you so much!"

"I missed you too Papa! I made a bunch of new friends!"

"No one picked on you?" Keith asked, protection in his voice.

She shook her head. Keith and Lance sighed in relief.

"Everyone was really nice! And some kids even pet my ears!" She smiled.

"That's great!" Lance exclaimed. They drove back home, all three of them happy and relieved the day went so well.
