Leah

I watched as Nikolai gave the big red eye vampire a bro hug.

"Felix." Nikolai greets.

Felix was very muscular, tall – about six feet seven like Jacob – and thick through his shoulders (kind of like Emmett) with a slightly pale olive cast to his chalky pallor. His short, cropped jet black hair highlighted his bright crimson irises around the edges until darkening until they were black around the pupil. Under his dark gray shroud, he was dressed in a pale nondescript shirt, and dark jeans.

He grinned at Nikolai, as if they were old pals.

The brawny vampire nods. His eyes settling on Leah. "I don't know if I should call you genius or stupid bringing them here."

"To each his own."

A female bloodsucker hops out of the ink black, midnight tint Infiniti FX 35 LHD.

She was as tall as me – five feet ten - and strikingly beautiful with lustrous mahogany hair. Though they looked nothing alike, she reminded me of Rosalie—it was just that her beauty, too, was exceptional, unforgettable. And as I looked at her I noticed she dressed to pronounce her beauty. Her amazingly long legs, darkened with darkly hued pantyhose, were exposed by the shortest of long-sleeved and vinyl-necked mini red dress. And, her red irises were neatly hidden by darkly tinted glasses.

She smiled blindingly a Nikolai. “Welcome home, Nikolai. I heard you’ve been bad.”

Nikolai snorts a laugh. “As if.”

“Won’t you introduce me to the beauty?” Felix asks.

“Guys this is Leah, my girlfriend; Leah meet Felix and Heidi, my two best friends.”

“Hi.” I said.

“She’s a beauty.” Heidi says. “I hope you’re a gentleman, to her.”

“Always.” Nikolai says.

The kids were introduced next before we were carted off. Heading deeper in the city of the Volturi coven. Up to now, I still didn’t see why we had to face the Volturi by ourselves but, Nikolai asked me to trust him so here I was.

Once inside the building, we took the elevator down.

The elevator ride was short; we stepped out into what looked like a posh office reception area. The walls were panelled in wood, the floors carpeted in thick, deep green. There were no windows, but large, brightly lit paintings of the Tuscan countryside hung everywhere as replacements. Pale leather couches were arranged in cozy groupings, and the glossy tables held crystal vases full of vibrantly coloured bouquets. The flowers' smell reminded me of a funeral home.

In the middle of the room was a high, polished mahogany counter. I gawked in astonishment at the human woman behind it.

She was tall, with really pretty, black espresso coffee skin like obsidian and caramel eyes. Her thick mass of hair, flat ironed pin straight curtained her lovely face. I couldn't comprehend what this human woman was doing here, totally at ease, surrounded by vampires.

She smiled politely in welcome. "Good afternoon, Heidi," she said. There was no surprise in her face as she glanced at Heidi's company. Not Nikolai, in his darkly coloured clothes, or even me, dishevelled and in jeans and sweater.

Heidi nodded. "Zoey." She continued toward a set of overly large old fashioned double doors in the back of the room, and we followed.

As Felix passed the desk, he winked at Zoey, and she giggled.
