Five months have passed with little excitement. Peter finally started teaching me how to use a sword and I have gotten pretty good. I can't beat him in a fight yet but they last longer than they did in the beginning. Other than training, Peter and I don't get to spend much time together. Being high king has its duties that he must attend to. But it's given me time to hang out with Susan and Lucy. They are becoming like sisters to me. Even Edmund is starting to be like a little brother. I am currently sitting on my balcony doing what I love to do... reading. It is actually a chronicle of when Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy came to Narnia and their battle with the White Witch. Most of it is the battle strategies that Peter implemented during the battle. It's quite interesting. I'm so into the book that I don't even hear the knocking on my door.
It is not until I fell a pair of hands on my shoulders that I realize I am not alone. Jumping, I close my rather large book and swing it back over my head, hoping to hit the intruder. I hear a loud THWACK and felt the book connect with what I am guessing is their head.
"Ouch! Jeez Elizabeth! That's the last time I surprise you!" I hear a familiar voice say. I turn around and see Peter, rubbing his head. I cover my mouth with my hands and gasp.
"Peter! What were you doing sneaking up on me like that?!" I yell, hitting Peter on the shoulder a few times.
"Sorry that I wanted to surprise my girlfriend! Gosh woman, you pack a punch." He said with a light chuckle.
"Sorry about that. But you really should know better than to sneak up on me. So, what are you doing here? Don't you have some kingly jobs to attend to?" I teased.
"Actually, no. I told my officers that I was taking the day off and that I wasn't to be disturbed. I thought we could go for a walk on the beach." Peter offered.
"Alright. That sounds wonderful. Let's go." I agreed, standing up and taking Peter's hand.
Once on the beach, I slipped off my shoes and held them in one hand. We walked on the white sand until the sun was directly above us. It was an unusually hot day and we were sweating a little bit. Peter led me to a small cave that was carved into the cliff face that held Cair Paravel. It was cool inside and we could see the ocean. A long piece of driftwood sat just inside the mouth of the cave and Peter led me over to it so we could sit down.
"I'm sorry we haven't spent much time together lately." Peter apologized. He was looking down at the sand. I lifted his chin up so he was looking at me.
"Peter, it is alright. I understand that you have a country to run. I'm not some needy girlfriend who constantly needs attention."
"I just wish I could spend more time with you. Elizabeth, there's something I must tell you."
"What is it?" Peter looked at me and I could see the nervousness on his face. His hands were shaking and he looked like he was going to be sick.
"I love you." He finally said. "I know that we have only been dating for 6 months, but I know that I am in love with you. You probably don't feel the same way. I mean, why would you? You're a beautiful girl that deserves the..." his rant was cut short when I leaned over and kissed him.
Our first kiss. And boy, was it amazing. After a few seconds, he finally realized what was happening and kissed me back. His hands found my cheeks and he held them as he deepened the kiss. It felt like fireworks were going off in my chest. My hands rested on his chest. After a little while, we broke apart for air. Our foreheads were still touching when I finally spoke.
"I love you too, Peter." He smiled and gave me a quick kiss. He wrapped his one arm around my back and we turned to face the ocean, with my head resting on his shoulder. We sat there for hours, talking about nothing and everything, all at once. When the sun had begun to set, we walked back to the castle and towards our rooms. We stopped outside my room and Peter pulled me into a hug. He gave me another quick kiss before I opened my door.
"Goodnight Peter."
"Goodnight my love."
