I got dressed after my awkward encounter with Peter. I searched through my wardrobe trying to find a suitable dress for dinner. I settled on a deep red dress that had gold trim. Putting my hair into a simple braid, I went to put on my shoes when I heard a knock at my door.
"Come in!" I called, slipping my feet into my velvet black flats. I lifted my head to see Edmund enter my room. "Well hello Edmund."
"Hello Elizabeth. So, what happened between you and Peter? I saw him walking to his chambers a moment ago, extremely flustered and red in the face. And a little while before that, I saw you run back here, looking equally flustered." Edmund questioned, smirking at me. I felt my face redden once again. I stood up from the bench at the foot of my bed and walked over to my vanity, trying to hide my face from Edmund.
"I don't know what you are talking about Ed."
"Oh yes you do Liz. Your face is beat red! Now, what happened? Do you want me to ask Peter?" My head shot up and glared at Edmund.
"Don't you dare Edmund Pevensie! Fine... I'll tell you. I was in the bath, relaxing and I didn't hear him knock on the door and he walked in. He turned around and apologized and I quickly got out, covered and ran back here. It was the most awkward moment of my life, Ed." I said pretty much all in one breath. Edmund covered his mouth with his hand so to stop himself from laughing. I rolled my eyes and put my hands on my hips.
"Alright. Alright. I'm sorry for laughing but it really is kind of funny. But seriously, it won't be awkward for too long. You'll both move past it. Anyway, Peter requested that I escort you to dinner because he is currently in a meeting." I closed the clasp on my golden lion necklace Peter had given me recently and turned to look at Edmund.
"Well, I guess you'll do then." I teased.
"You're just so hilarious Elizabeth. Come on, let's go." And with that, Edmund and I made our way down to the dining room. "So, I suppose things are going well with you and my dear brother?" he asks, his hands behind his back.
"I guess you could say that." I simply look at the ground as we walk.
"Elizabeth, what's really going on? I may not have known you for that long, but I do know you. Something is on your mind."
"Alright, fine. It's just, I'm not from this world. Not even the same time period as all of you. What happens when I eventually get back to my world? Am I just supposed to forget about all of this and all of you? Am I just supposed to forget about Peter?"
"Lizzie," I smile at Edmund's nickname for me. "relax. We still haven't seen any sign of a portal back to our world. So do not worry about that until it happens, alright? And if it does happen, we'll figure it out." I nodded, knowing my worries were silly.
"Alright Ed. Thank you." He smirked at me.
"Anything for my future sister-in-law." I smacked him on the arm and we continued to walk, soon arriving at the dining hall. The guards opened the doors for Ed and I and I saw Peter, Susan, and Lucy sitting at the table. Peter stood up when we entered and he smiled shyly at me. As I approached the table, Peter pulled my chair out for me. When I sat down, he leaned down and whispered in my ear,
"I apologize again for earlier Elizabeth."
"It's alright Peter. It's in the past." We smiled at each other and we all began to eat. The girls and I talked about going into the lower town tomorrow to look for fabric for new dresses. The boys talked about training of course.
"Sire." I heard Oreius say as he entered the hall.
"What is it Oreius?" Peter asked, standing up.
"I must speak with you at once." Peter nodded and looked at Edmund who stood up as well. The pair left the room, following the general.
"What do you think it is about?" Lucy asked Susan and I.
"I don't know Lu, but I am sure the boys will let us know later." I assured her. We continued to eat our dinner before retiring to our bed chambers. I hope everything is alright.
