Chapter Eight: Percy POV

Nobody saw it coming. I mean, who would predict that a 2,000+ pound whale hybrid would come charging at you in the middle of your vacation? Nobody, that's who.

"Everybody, run!" I heard Natasha scream. Nobody hesitated to take the order, using their powers to get to the other side of the island. We all arrived as quickly as humanly possible, and shared a final glance before we went off to war.

We all gathered around in a circle, like those cheesy movies that everybody loves, but also laughs at because of how corny they are. I could feel the dramatic fight scene music playing in the back of my head, creating the suspense. The tense atmosphere was unbearable, especially for a demigod like me.

I could feel the size and power of the creature through the wave, the overwhelming power coursing through my veins. But there was another nasty surprise in store. Nuena. Her power seemed to drip into the water, and I could feel her burning rage toward us. The raw power that she was producing scared me, but I wasn't about to give into it.

I took a deep breath and charged. With my team behind me, some stress of the outcome withered away, but I still had a nagging feeling behind all of it. This seemed too out of the blue, especially for a pre-planner like Nuena. I couldn't shake the feeling that this was all a trap, just a sentence in an essay.

"Percy, come back!" I heard Annabeth scream.

But I didn't look back. If I did, I couldn't regain this energy that I felt right now. Also, I couldn't bear that look that Annabeth was most likely giving me right now. I needed to be strong, for her.

Then I heard it. A horrible laugh split the air, and in that moment, I knew that I shouldn't have left them behind. I skidded to a stop and turned around only to see beams of magic consuming my friends.

"Percy, help!" Annabeth screamed, her voice raw and empty.

I stood speechless as the energy bars hardened into cages around all my camp friends. But that fear only lasted a second, for when I looked down, I saw something out of a nightmare. The Avenger's bodies were littered on the ground, unconscious but not dead.

"What do you want Nuena?" I screamed, tears rolling down my reddened cheeks.

"Only for you to suffer, do you really think that I didn't recognize you, my sister's killer? I had this planned from the beginning. No matter how powerful you are, you could never pass up a chance to save your precious little friends," she smiled, a smug look overcrossing her face, "No matter what, you will destroy the world to save your friends."

I stepped back, fear evident on my face. She was right, my fatal flaw was loyalty. But then a thought crossed my mind. I remembered when Athena had said almost the same exact thing, but she was wrong, and she was the goddess of wisdom for crying out loud!

"You're lying," I said, "I won't do what you say." But my voice wavered, and as I said it, I knew that it wasn't true.

"Well then, I may just have to convince you." Nuena cackled as she raised her arms. I turned around to hear a piercing scream cut through the air.

Oh. My. Gods.

I froze in shock as I saw my friends bodies being shocked, rendering them limp. This continued for a minute, and I was helpless. They were to impossible to reach, and not even the gods could help. My body was shut down, useless to its purpose of life.

I turned around to face Nuena, I couldn't look anymore. I tilted my head upwards and whispered, "You will pay for this."

Nuena was so caught up with her happiness that she ignored my seething anger for a moment, but she would regret it. I slowly but surely built up my power, having it reach maximum potential. This is what you get for hurting my friends, I thought. This is what she deserves, something she could never dream of, power so unimaginable that even Gaea wouldn't stand a chance.

"THIS IS WAR!" I screeched at the top of my lungs. I charged forward, not bothering with details. I rushed forward, my body encircled with a hurricane, and threw myself on the sea creature.

Poor sea creature. His name was Tim. Rest in peace.

It was over in a flash, and I didn't remember any of it. All I knew was that my power overwhelmed my body and made me pass out. When I woke up, all I could see was a circle of blurry faces surrounding me. This felt like some alien abduction nonsense that you see in conspiracy theory videos.

"Percy, Percy, wake up... please." I heard a voice whisper, the sound waves slowly reviving my consciousness.

"Wha-wh-what?" I murmured as I peeled my sticky eyes open.

"Guys, he's awake!" Someone cried, and everyone rushed towards me.
I didn't know what was going on, so I sat up, rubbing my eyes. I looked around at the unfamiliar faces and said, "Who are you guys?"

Flashback Annabeth POV

The pain was unbearable. The cages were meant for animals, not people. Whenever I would try to escape, it would give me an electric shock. They were inescapable as far as I could tell, but I had to try. I had to try... for Percy.

Percy.

I had just seen him run towards the monster, and I couldn't bear to watch. He may be the most powerful demigod in centuries, no, history, but even he couldn't compare to the creature. It was a horrendous nightmare, something only found in the pits of tar-tar sauce.

"Percy come back!" I cried, collapsing on my knees. I tried call him, but he wouldn't turn back. I broke down, sobbing. My love of my life was going to die.

I heard a scream. I looked up to see Percy in the center of a hurricane, and I could feel the power radiating off of him. He charged toward the sea monster, full force, and that was when I could tell that this was going to be a battle to the death. They both flew towards each other, water splaying all different directions. The collision caused tremors throughout the entire island, shaking us to no end. Eventually the shaking stopped, and my vision blurred back to normal. As it started focusing again, I saw Percy unconscious, lying on top of the large, now dead, sea creature.

I stared at his body for what seemed like hours until I finally heard an ear-piercing scream, "Percy!" I looked around as Frank rushed towards him. The rest of the day was a bit of a blur, and I only vaguely remember Tony rushing him to the island's private hospital, miraculously the only structure that survived the earthquake. The AI paramedic stabilized him immediately, however his breathing was still very shallow and raspy. We all encircled him, and I continued to whisper his name and shake him, still hoping that by some miracle he would wake up. I continued to do this relentlessly until I heard the words that both created and destroyed my world.

"Who are you guys?"

"Percy don't you remember? You passed out after destroying the sea creature? Percy please, you have got to remember!" I cried softly.

"His - his name was Tim. Rest in peace." Percy chuckled softly before wincing in pain once again.

Everyone exploded in cheers, all happy and thankful that Percy was alive with hopefully no side effects. We all celebrated in the huge room, having a little bit of a blue cookie fiasco, which I am most definitely not complaining about. I was just happy that I had my Percy back, my entire Percy.
