*11 years ago, Jack had his 5th birthday. That day, he got a present that would watch over him and tend to his every need. This is the story of how a boy and his butler met*...

Jack: It's my birthday, I'm so happy! I'm finally 5! *Jumping up and down with joy*.
Father: That's right, son. You know what that means? *Seems to be hiding something behind his back*.
Jack: What?
Mother: It means, you get presents! And your father and I have both been waiting to give this to you for a while.
Jack: Yay!
Father: We know how much you've wanted a pet, as well as a friend. So...
Mother: Oh, this'll be lovely! I'll be right back. *Goes into the other room*.
Father: Here you are, Jack. Happy birthday. *Smiles and takes an oddly shaped present out from behind his back and places it in front of Jack*.
Jack: Thanks, dad! *Unwraps the present to reveal an empty bird cage*... Huh? It's empty.
Father: For now. Bring him in, honey!
Mother: *Comes back in with a small crow perched on her arm*. Here he is! *The crow has white feathers on the tips of its wings*. Happy birthday, my little fighter. Meet your new friend!
Crow: *Flies off her arm and onto the floor in front of Jack*. Caw! *Turns into a teenage boy with black hair and brown eyes, wearing a black suit and bow tie*. Greetings, Young Master Jack! My name is Gobi, I'm your new butler and friend. Pleased to meet you! *Bows*.
Jack: Woah...
Father: You've never known it, but Gobi here has been with us since he was just a hatchling.
Mother: We've been hiding him from you only to introduce you to him today. What do you think?
Gobi: *Straightens up and holds out his hand to shake Jack's*. I cannot wait to be with you everyday to tend to your everyday needs. I've been waiting for this moment for 5 years.
Jack: *Runs up to Gobi and hugs him tight*. You're awesome!
Gobi: *!*... *Looks down at Jack and smiles, then hugs him back*...
Father: I think you two will get along just fine.
Mother: We'll give you both some time to get to know each other. Have fun! *Goes into the other room*.
Jack: *Let's go of Gobi*. Thanks mom and dad, this is the best present ever!
Father: Glad you like it, son. He's yours to command, but he's still learning a few things. Have a nice talk, now. *Goes into the other room*.
Jack: *Looks up at Gobi*. We're gonna be friends forever, right Gobi?
Gobi: If that is what you wish, of course!
Jack: Yay! This is going to be so fun!
Gobi: Now then, let's get to know each other. Ask me anything, Jack.
Jack: Okay!
???: *Watching from the window outside, badly injured and close to dying*... Gobi, my son... You're safe and you have a friend as well... I'm proud... Be good now, you belong to someone you'll have to protect soon... Goodbye... *Dies*...
