Chapter 6

Kyle’s POV

It took me a little longer than it usually would to get back to the pack house considering I was holding my best friends mate and didn’t want to inflict anymore pain or injury to her already mangled body.  “Leah, are you doing okay, anything hurt more than before?”  I was hoping she would respond but when I looked down into her face, she was unconscious.  With a sigh I continued walking through the woods, back the way we came.  “If Jeremy rejects you I swear to god I will kick his ass, you don’t seem like a girl who has done a damn thing wrong.” 

Finally, after walking for about twenty more minutes I finally reached the pack house.  “Jeremy!”  I yelled and even tried the mind link, but he his walls were up and he wasn’t responding, he must have had a pack meeting he couldn’t get out of.  “Luna!”  I called out to our packs Luna, and Jeremy’s mom.  “Can you get the pack doctor up to Jeremy’s room?  I’ll put Leah in there.”  Nicole turned and walked off in the direction that I assumed was where the pack doctor was.  I was grateful that I haven’t had to have a visit there yet. 

I walked up the stairs and down the hall to Jeremy’s room where I heard muffled voices.  One was a male voice, which I knew was Jeremy, but the other was a female voice.  After hearing two more words I knew who it was, Lexi.  Is he stupid?  His mate is bleeding out in my arms and he through his walls up to talk to Lexi?  I swear to god I am going to kick the shit out of him when I get him alone, Alpha or not, he doesn’t have a right to be acting like this. 

I kicked the door open with my foot, because I didn’t have a free hand.  Jeremy immediately became aware of who was in my hands, and rushed over to us.  I pushed past him placing her on his bed not letting him go near her.  That earned me a growl that would have anyone running in the opposite direction, it even made me wince and I was used to his attitude at times.  “Get out of my way.”  He growled at me throw his clenched teeth. 

“No dude, what you are doing is going to hurt her.  Look at what it has already done!”  Then, I turned and faced Lexi, “I know you want to try to work things out with Jeremy, but he found his mate and you will soon find yours.  You know you have to right messing around with him anymore and it is only going to stir up trouble.”  Going back to Jeremy, “I know I have no right to voice my opinion but I think you need to hear what I think.  You need to get your ass together and be there for her, THIS.”  I pointed to Leah’s unconscious body, “is because of your mistake, and you and your wolf both agree with me.  That’s why I am not ripped to shreds right now.  I am here for you and will stand by your decision like a good Beta, but I don’t agree with what you are planning to do.” 

With what I had to say out there and a speechless Jeremy and Lexi in front of me, I started to leave the room passing, but Jeremy got to me first.  I wasn’t fearful of him, but I did have a fear of an angry wolf gripping my throat.  Jeremy had a grip on my throat and his body up against mine in a threatening way as he pushed me up against the fall and got in my face.  “She is my mate, and I love her!  Don’t ever imply I don’t! I will ALWAYS be there for her!”  His eyes were now a bright yellow and his wolf was talking, “SHE IS OUR MATE AND WE WILL PROTECT HER, MY HUMAN MAY BE DUMB BUT IN THE END WE WILL BE THERE FOR HER!”  In less than a second his eyes were back to normal and he let go of my throat shoving me one more time against the wall.  I left the room without another comment and on my way out I passed the pack doctor in the hallway, “She is in there.”  I pointed to the room that I just left.

‘Jeremy needs to get himself in check,’ I thought to myself as I walked down the hallway allowing a small chuckle to escape my mouth. 

Jeremy’s POV

“Baby,” Lexi purred while stepping closer to me, “I know you think Leah’s better than I am, but I think we could make this work and I could prove to you that the fates were wrong and we were supposed to be together.”  She came up to me and ran her fingers down my arm. 

I shivered in disgust; I just don’t feel the same way I used to around her now that Leah is around.  However, she took the shiver that ran through my body as a shiver of pure pleasure.  “Lexi, there is someone out there that is made for you, and was made to fit you perfectly.  That isn’t me, I was made for Leah.  I know this hurts and I know I promised you that we would try, but I don’t know if I can.  Me and my wolf feel horrible for what this would cause our mate.” 

Lexi let a small growl rumble through her chest and my wolf felt as if she was threatening me and my mate, ‘Get rid of her, before I do!’  He roared in my head.  I knew he was trying to fight for control, but I need to talk to her.

“She is not meant for you Jeremy, I was and you wil-“  She was cut short by the door opening and my attention was immediately captured by the smell of Strawberry-Vanilla, except it  was mixed with the smell of blood.  I reacted by going for my mate, she needed me.  But, stupid Kyle pushed past me, that pissed me off.  I  started to clench and un clench my teeth as well as my fists.  What does he think he is doing. 

Then, he put her down on the bed and I started to go to her side, when Kyle decided he was going to stop me, “Get out of my way.”  I growled through my teeth. 

“No dude, what you are doing is going to hurt her.  Look at what it has already done!”  Is he really going to lecture me on this, while my mate was sitting in her own blood on my bed?!  I need to get to her and to be with her so I know she will be okay!  Then he turned his body and started to confront Lexi, what is with him today?  This is my life not his and I have to deal with this on my own.   Then I noticed he was talking to me again, “I think you need to hear what I think.  You need to get your ass together and be there for her, THIS.”  He pointed to my lovely mate, “is because of your mistake, and you and your wolf both agree with me.  That’s why I am not ripped to shreds right now.  I am here for you and will stand by your decision like a good Beta, but I don’t agree with what you are planning to do.”  That is it!  Who is he to tell me what to do?  I am his Alpha and he will respect me!

My temper snapped as he started to walk away, first it was me, then my wolf took control.  I grabbed his neck pushing him against the wall, “She is my mate, and I love her!  Don’t ever imply I don’t! I will ALWAYS be there for her!”  His eyes went wide and I knew that he noticed I wasn’t in control anymore, he may have been my best friend, but she is my mate, “SHE IS OUR MATE AND WE WILL PROTECT HER, MY HUMAN MAY BE DUMB BUT IN THE END WE WILL BE THERE FOR HER!”  My wolf decided to give me back my body after he shoved Kyle against the wall.  Without another peep, Kyle was gone and for the first time, I noticed Lexi was too. 

Now to the problem at hand, Leah.  I hope she was okay, where is this damn pack doctor?  As if on cue I heard his footsteps as he entered my room and walked to my bed, where I was holding my mate in my arms as she lay unconscious.
