Leah’s POV

Jeremy picked me up off of the grassy bank of the pond that I found when I was a little girl.  Whenever my parents got into one of their wars, I would walk through the woods and one day I found this pond.  It was peaceful and I doubt anyone knew much about it.  It was about as remote as I was going to get without running away.

I felt my body dip and rise with every step that Jeremy took, and soon I was asleep.

Jeremy’s POV

Leah rested her head on my shoulder and I soon heard her breaths become even and I knew she was sleeping.  However, I decided that I did not want to go to the pack house, because there was too much ruckus going on and I didn’t want people to ask what happened, when I got back.  So instead I decided I would take Leah to that small cabin out in the woods that I found with Kyle when we were only pups.  Through the years I secretly cleaned the place up and turned it into a nice, homey cabin.

I replaced all the worn out carpet with shiny, hardwood floors, the beat up interior and exterior logs with new ones and put a coat of gloss over the inside wood, while I put a protectant paint over the outside so it wouldn’t rot away, then I replaced all the furniture with new stuff.   If I had a choice I would live here instead of back at the pack house.

This is going to be a place that only Leah and I will share.

When we approached the walk way that I made out of different sized rocks leading to the front door I started to walk a little faster because it had started to rain.  I kicked the door open with my foot and walked in.  I went to the bedroom and placed Leah’s sleeping body down on the bed, pulling off her wet clothes I put on one of my shirts that I left here last time I was here.  Then, I went back out to the entry way and shut the front door.

Did I stock the cabinets and fridge, last time I was here?  Hmm, I have to check.  I went to the kitchen and went through the cabinets to see what we had to eat.  I’ll make Leah breakfast when she wakes up tomorrow morning, I am sure I can whip something up out of the food I have here.

So, I retreated to the bedroom and pulled off my own wet clothes, deciding to only sleep in my boxers and crawled into bed, snuggling up to Leah’s back, drifting off into a peaceful slumber.

In what felt like moments after I was woken up by someone humming a song, I didn’t recognize the song, but when it hit my ears I instantly liked it.  When my eyes adjusted to my surroundings and I was no longer in my groggy state I realized that must be Leah humming because she was no longer in bed.  I got out of bed and walked out into the kitchen to find Leah standing over the stove in my T-shirt that was too large for her.

To say that made me happy was too much of an understatement, my wolf was literately purring in approval at our mate in our shirt.  I walked up behind her and engulfed her body in my arms, resting my head on her shoulder.  I was immediately greeted with her hand swatting my away, “Stop it, your going to make me burn the French toast!”  She whined, in her cute pouty voice.  I laughed and let go of her, I was so concentrate on our mate that I didn’t take in the smell that met my nose, it was mixed with our mates Strawberry-Vanilla scent, however it was a smell of cinnamon and butter.  It made my stomach growl and earned me a laugh from an amused Leah.

I rubbed my stomach and put a hurt expression on my face, “Stop it; I can’t help that smells amazing!”  I said as I walked to the island, sitting my body in one of the bar stools.

“So what is this place?”  She asked flicking the spatula around to indicate the house.

“Oh, it’s a place that I have been working on restoring, no one knows about it.  But, wanted to bring you here and I was too tired to go another couple of miles to the pack house, so I figured you could be the first person I shared this place with.  Do you like it?”  I asked putting my elbow on the island and propping my head up on my closed fist.

“It beautiful, I wonder if this is that old cabin I used to play in when I was younger, before I found the pond.”  She looked around at all the work I have put into fixing this place, it was a real dump before I finished it.  “I think it is. Wow you did a lot to fix this place up.”  She took the French toast off the stove and put it on a plate.  She picked up the plate and walked off toward the dining room running her hand against the smooth wooden surface of the wall.

When I walked through the entry way I noticed that the table had been set for two.  I laughed.  “What?  Did I do something?”  She asked confused and scare, like she disappointed me.

“No, no.  It’s just last night, when you were sleeping I came to see what I could make for you this morning, and you beat me to it.  I wanted to cook you an amazing breakfast to show you that I care, and you ended up making me breakfast.”  She put the plate in the middle of the table and turned to look at me.

“I like to cook; my parents would always fight in the morning, so I never got to cook because I would always rush out of the house before they realized I was up.”  She shrugged.  I walked up to her and hugged her tightly.

“I don’t deserve you.”  I said into her hair.  “I have done nothing but cause you pain and you forgive me like nothing ever happened.”

“You’re my mate, we are supposed to be with each other.  People aren’t perfect and you messed up.  But, I haven’t forgiven you; I just put aside our differences for now.  You have a lot to do to make up what you did to me.  But, I want to enjoy my first breakfast with my mate, not fight with him.”  She snuggled into my chest and my wolf...well…he wanted her.  I have a feeling she was going into heat soon, because I could faintly smell a change in her usual scent and it was driving my wolf crazy.  It took a lot of self-control to hug her like this and not pin her against the wall and show her how much we loved her.

She pulled away first, and I have a feeling she was having the same control problems with her wolf as I am with mine.  Leah went to one side of the table and I went to the other.  I loaded my plate with the sweet smelling toast, putting syrup on them and shoveling away at the food.  “You are defiantly cooking more often.”  I stated as I refilled my plate with French toast.

After breakfast I cleaned the table and we talked about what she liked and about what she thinks.  I know most males, especially Alpha’s would not take the same approach with their mate as I am, they would most likely be mated within hours of meeting each other, but I don’t want to scare her away.  I have to pay for what I did to her and right now that is in the form of self-control.

Leah didn’t want to talk about herself, but I kept insisting.  I wanted to know all that I could about my mate, and the first thing I learned was that she is very shy.  It took me quite some time to get her to talk to me about herself, she wanted to know about me.  So I made a deal with her, she told me about herself and I told her about me.  After an hour of just talking I felt like I knew Leah better than I knew myself; I knew her favorite color was blue, she hates snakes, and she used to sleep with a doll until she was 7.  These were only some of the things that I learned about her.

She captivated me, as she spoke I watched her lips move as they formed words, I watched the way her eyes would brighten when she talked about memories of her parents before they became bitter toward each other and her.

She absolutely captivated me.
