On and Off

Chapter 28

Jeremy's POV

The hardest thing we will face will probably be the painting.  When we got home, Leah and I decided we should start the painting today and finish it tomorrow morning. 

Prying open the lid to the paint can, I placed it on the ground and looked over at Leah, who was putting sheets over the floor of the now empty spare room.  "Ready?"  She asked as she laid down the last sheet.

"When you are."  I responded, holding out two clean brushes, one for her to take and one for me. 

She took her brush and dipped it in the paint, you could see the paint change colors as she walked by the window.  I followed suit and in less time than we expected we had one of the four walls painted in the first coat.  In the next four and a half hours we managed to finish the first coat of the whole room. 

My stomach had been complaining about the lack of food I have eatten for the past 30 minutes.  That is when I realized it was 8:42.  "I think we did enough for today, you want to go eat?"  I asked as I put my arm around her shoulder. 

Leah nodded her head as I led her away from the soon to be nursery and down the stairs, into the kitchen.  "What do you want to eat?" 

Leah looked across the room with a thoughtful expression, "mhm....I think I want Chicken and Brochilli on rice." 

....this shouldn't be hard, right?  I mean looks like i can try, if my mate doesn't like it, we can get Kyle to pick up pizza and bring it down.  "Ok." 

Looks like it is time to find out how to make chicken and brochilli.  I pull out some leftover chicken from last night and some brochilli.  Next I think i should put a pan on the stove and add a little bit of oil on it and add the brochilli.  While the brochilli is cooking and getting soft I shred the chicken and add it into the pan.  For seasonings I put on salt, pepper, and garlic powder.  When I make the rice and it is done cooking I put butter on it and put some in the middle of both plates and add the chicken and brochilli to it. 

....smells ok to me.  Hope that is a good sign.

I wake up and the first thing that pops into my mind is that I will miss mornings like this when I have to get back to my busy schedule as Alpha. 

Having my mate in my arms, her smell filling my nose, and her head on my chest will all have to be put on hold when I gp back to my constant meetings.

I was snapped from my train of thought when Leah softly moaned, telling me she was waking up.  "Good morning Sweetheart."  I whisper into her ear and kiss he cheek softly.

A smile plays onto her lips and she snuggles into me farther, "Good morning, Jeremy." 

I wanted to savor this moment, but we only have one month until the baby is coming and we need to get that nursery done.  I sit up and grin at Leah, "You ready for our amazing day of work, work, and more work?"  I ask.

All she does in response is groan. 

"Come on, Sweetheart."  Then I straddle Leah and make it so my face is inches from her belly, "Tell Mommy you want a nursery when you arrive...Tell her."  Leah laughs and sits up when I climb off her.

"You are a goof!"  Leah climbs outta the bed and throws on a pair of sweatpants and one of my T-Shirts.  It is one of my favorites, but I won't argue if it means getting my Baby Girls nursery finished.

It took us another 5 hours to get the second coat on and I made Leah go eat lunch, while I tried to put the baby's stuff together in the living room. 

"Are you sure you don't want anything?"  Leah asks as she walks out with a Peanutbutter and Fluff with banana sandwich. 

"I'm sure...I want to get this stuff done, two more days and I have to get back to my duties."  I inform her.

She pouts out her lower lip and whimpers, "I think you should stay off until the baby comes, we still have to name her."  I hate disappointing Leah, but I have to do what is in the best interest for the pack.

"Baby, I have to go, and I think I know what we can do.  We can skype while I am away and talk about baby names, okay?"  She reluctantly nods her head.

That is my cue to start building again. 

This baby stuff sucks, I am an Alpha of a pack of werewolves...I still can't put together a stupid crib or the changing table!  Let alone the dresser!

I phone Kyle and he agreed to come over and help, this would give Leah time with Taylor, while Kyle and I put this stuff together.

When Kyle got here the girls waisted no time in gossiping over what has been going on recently.  At the same time Kyle and I waisted no time in putting the baby stuff together.  They still don't know what the gender is, but I want to keep it that way.  Not that I don't trust them, but this is the safety o my family we are talking about.  I will do anything to make them safe.

All this stuff took us 4 hours to put together!  The girls were laughing at Kyle and I because when we got frustrated we would yell at the pieces that we were working on...whatever, at least we got it done.

"Hey man..." Kyle was looking a little worried.

"What?" 

"You know we have to get this stuff upstairs now, right?"  I think I groaned out loud.

"Lets get started then."

We carefully took each piece of furniture upstairs, one by one.  We almmost sucessfully smashed the crib when we were going up the stairs, but we managed to keep self control.

Looking around the room, all I had to do was the trim and the curtains.  Then it would be finished.  That only took me 45 minutes to do the trim and 20 minutes to do the curtains then the room was finally finished.

Leah and Taylor walked into the room and their jaws dropped, I guess they liked what they saw.

I grinned, proud of myself and Leah walked up and gave me a kiss.  "You are amazing Jeremy."  She said when she pulled away and that made my hold her to my chest, this was my mate and I would never trade her for anyone else!
