Jeremy’s POV
My dad’s face fell and I could tell his wolf was mad, “Who did it?” His voice was hard and he looked like he was ready to kill. I never noticed before, but he was acting the same way I was before. He couldn’t sit still and he kept rubbing his arms like he was trying to take away a small pain that was there.
I couldn’t take it any longer, I ran to my 2012 Camaro, jumping in the front seat I pealed out of the parking lot my car was in and onto the road. I am about twelve hours away from my pack’s territory. However, at the rate I was going I should make it there in less than four hours.
The hours dragged by because all I could picture was Leah’s hurt body. Being her mate, I knew her heart was still beating. But, because we didn’t mate I wouldn’t know if she was safe. Right now she could be dying. I wouldn’t know until her heart stopped beating and her wolf gave up fighting.
Crossing into pack territory I saw small refugee camps set up and first aid stations. I know I should have stopped to assist my pack, but my mate, their future Luna, could be seriously hurt. I need to find her. My wolf sensed her near the pack house.
When I pulled up to what used to be my home my heart stopped. It looked like a warzone. What used to be my home was now a pile of rubble. I parked the car and jumped out running to the closest first aid station.
“Where is she?! Where is my mate?!” Word of Leah being my mate got out, thanks to Lexi gossiping about how she thinks the fates messed up. However, many still didn’t know because she was not yet properly introduced to the pack.
I got a couple dirty and confused looks, but finally a voice rang out, “Jeremy! Thank goodness your back!” Lexi jumped in my arms before I could react. She had many bruises and scrapes, but was overall okay. So, I pushed her off of me.
“Where is Leah?” My voice held a hint of my Alpha tone, as I ignored Lexi’s presence completely.
“She is being taken care of two tents over, she was badly hurt. From what I heard she was in the same room as the bomb in the pack house when they all went off. There were seven bombs all together.” The head doctor in this tent said, he looked to be no older than 22.
I ran from the tent without another word. When I reached the tent I was told held my mate I was greeted by two bodyguards. “You cannot enter.” What are they talking about I cannot enter? That is my mate in there!
A growl rippled through my body and my wolf wanted control. “Stand in my way and watch what happens when my wolf takes control!” They instantly parted and let me enter the tent.
“Leah!” I ran to the only bed in the tent and fell to my knees. Her body was badly burned and you could see where the debris pierced her skin. She had stitches and a cast, so the doctors must have already treated her and are leaving the rest of the repairs up to her wolf.
I took her hand and kissed the top of it. “Leah, can you hear me?” A tear trailed down my cheek at the sight of my mate lying on this bed.
She didn’t respond.
A doctor walked through the door that I just came through. “You’re not supposed to be in here.” Our packs second best doctor said to me.
“She is my mate! Don’t tell me, your future Alpha, what to do!” I know I snapped, but I couldn’t help it, this is the second guy to try to keep me from her. “I’m going to be taking her and would appreciate the release forms. We will be going somewhere until things cool down around here.”
