Leah’s POV
I just sat kept running.
My wolf felt broken, our mate sat there and never pushed her away. Does that mean that he was lying about the first time I saw him talking to her outside on the porch?
I am so confused and felt so hurt. I knew he would have people coming for me, so I pushed my wolf to run as fast as she would. ‘I don’t care what you say, I’m not going back to him.’ I told my wolf, while trying to convince myself as well, but she never responded.
She must have believed that wheat he did would be hard to forgive.
I heard rustling to my left, but if I stopped now there is no way I would out run the group of werewolves that is bound to be in my wake.
Then, a massive black wolf and two big ones, one grey and one white, appeared from my left. I stopped dead in my tracks; they were all in defensive, fighting positions.
The larger one went behind a tree and came back in human form. He was a guy, about 20 years old or so, in sweatpants. “You are trespassing onto Midnight Eclipse territory. Give me a reason I shouldn’t rip you limb from limb?” His voice was cold and menacing, making my eyes go wide in terror.
I fell to my knees and my tears flowed down my cheeks. “I-I I’m sorry.” I whipped my eyes and stood back up. “I’ll-“ I heard ruffling from behind me, instinctively I ran and jumped behind the man, forgetting what was going on.
“Woah, take it easy.” He moved a little.
“She is jumpy.” The man that made the sound behind me said to the man, who seemed to be his superior.
“I am Alpha Mark and that is my Beta Geordan. What’s your name? And can I ask why you are trespassing.”
I stepped away from him blushing from my jumpiness, “I’m Leah.”
“Who’s your mate, Leah?” He pointed to my mark, then he took in my attire. “I head Alpha Bill’s son found his mate, didn’t believe the kid could handle a girl.” He laughed and winked at me, “Are you the lucky girl?” I scuffed at the work lucky, but other than that I didn’t answer him.
“Answer me!” His voice got hard again.
“Yah.” I whispered.
“So what business do you have trespassing on my land?”
“I’m running away.”
His eyes went wide. “You’ve gone Rouge then?” He laughed, “You won’t last.”
I don’t care; I’m not staying with him!” I yelled getting defensive.
He man behind me, I think Alpha Mark said his name was…Geordan?, moved toward me. Mark motioned for him to stop. “Come with us and we will continue this conversation.” It wasn’t a question, he was ordering me. So, I complied and went back to his pack house.
On the way Alpha Mark and his Beta, Geordan, were whispering and I assume it is about me. I also got strange looks from the pack members.
When we got to the pack house, Mark brought me to his office. Then, he shut the door, locking me in with only him. “Why did you run away?” He turned to me and went to sit behind his desk.
My wolf growled at the thought and my body started to shake. “You have to control your wolf.” Alpha Mark said, “Tell me what happened. “
“He never really loved me, he loved Lexi.” I was crying again and I felt like throwing up.
“Who is Lexi? And of course he loves you, you’re his mate!” Alpha Mark tried reasoning.
“No, he was talking to her, then today I saw them kissing and he didn’t push her away! He doesn’t love me.” Alpha Mark let out a growl.
“That is sick! No one should treat their mate like that!” He was gripping his desk so hard that his knuckles were turning white.
I wiped my eyes, “I’m sorry, it’s fine. I’m just going to run away.”
He grabbed my hand from across the table, “You can stay here as long as you need. The pack won’t bother you. Later, if you want to join our pack and settle here, the option will be open for you.”
“Thank you.” I got up and went and hugged him. I didn’t know if it was appropriate to do to an Alpha, but I had to show him that I was sincerely grateful for his kindness. “You are very sweet.”
He stood up and motioned for me to follow him. “You can stay in the room one down from mine.” He brought me up the stairs and stopped in front of a door, opening it for me.
The first thing I did when I walked in the room was go and sit on the bed. “You look worn out. Tell you what, go to bed. When you are ready come get me and we will talk.” He walked out of the room and shut the door behind him.
