FATE'S SECOND CHANCES

Chapter 7

Nicole felt her stomach churn into knots she couldn't understand why. It was just an ordinary dinner date with Kevin but she was uptight. She looked really beautiful tonight in a golden satin backless dress that swirled around her calves emphasizing her un endless pair of long legs. Even her face was radiant wanting herself to be extra special for Kevin. But her thoughts were on East recalling how it felt to be in his arms. How tightly muscled his chest was enveloping her breasts. The way he kissed her rocked her world wanting to repeat it all over again. There was so much love in that kiss and at the same time undeniable want. She had never felt that way with Kevin. There was passion but not the earth shattering feeling she felt with East. Craving for it more. What puzzled her more was how she responded with equal intensity enjoying it as much as he did. She was sending him mixed signals judging from the hard slap she had given him. East's face too stunned to speak. She groaned out loud. She had been too harsh on East when in fact she wanted him too with all her heart. She must have been preoccupied with her thoughts unaware that Kevin was talking to her looking directly at her face.

Penny for your thoughts honey? You seem so far away. Hope it's me you're thinking about. he teased lightly kissing her hand.

Was I? she laughed. Oh just thinking of the Tuscany project and all the work ahead of us.

C'mon you need not worry. The pressure will be on East. You just relax your pretty head. Actually need to discuss a lot of things with him. We need to finish all of the layout for presentation to the board so everything must be on target. Even Dad is counting on him a lot.

East again. Nicole was just thankful Kevin could not read her mind that she was thinking of the same person.

I'm sure everything will be according to time table. Mr. Kelly knows what he's doing and has the achievements to prove it.

Well if Dad chose him he must be good. We're backing a great deal on this project. Half of the funding will come from Japanese investors so he better produce everything to perfection. Kevin's face always had it's doubts.

Why you don't believe in him? she asked part of her getting irritated with Kevin's negative attitude towards East.

Actually I don't like him. I have no choice because Dad picked him among other well known architects. East had the highest credentials.

He has. And he is good Kevin so you can put your mind at rest. We architects know who the best is in their field. she replied stating a fact.

In spite of all the pains in the past. Nicole was proud of East and all he had made of himself. She was aware of all that he had lost. He even had to leave college for lack of money but he still came out on top. That she truly admired in him.

You're really defending him huh? You find him attractive? He is good looking. Should I be jealous? he teased her kissing her neck.

Not on your life Mr. Whitman. No guy in the world will I love and desire as she kissed him on the lips.

He grinned. That's my honey. And enough of Mr. Architect. What's important is we have a lovely dinner. I've made reservations in Lafayette. I know you love it there.

You know me so well. she smiled enticingly as she rested her head on Kevin's shoulder.

But again that tightness in her tummy. Butterflies for what? She could not understand herself.

Lafayette was a chic place mostly the upper crust people frequented the place. Nicole loved their dishes having their own unique taste. The place had an elegant ambiance. It was located at the 40th floor with a breath taking view of Boston in the evening. It was also very expensive the dishes had no prices. Even the seat Kevin reserved was perfect.
