I walk into English and Lauren gets up and runs to me. She gives me a hug then we go to our chairs.
"Hey! Have you spoken to Ollie?" She asks me.
"No I haven't, not since yesterday." I say
"What! Why not?"
"Well he's meant to message me about Friday but he hasn't yet, so I'm just waiting."
"Oh my god! I forgot you're seeing him again!" She squeals at me.
"Shh!! Can you not be so loud! " I whisper to her.
"Oh sorry. I'm just so excited for you. Can't believe he asked you on another date!" She exclaims.
"Ooo, who are you going on date with?" A voice appears over my shoulder. I turn to look, it's Courtney. Courtney is apart of our group, but she's the biggest snitch. She the type of person who is friends with everyone and gets in on everyones business. Last year she made a rumour about Lauren and it spread through the whole school. It was about her and some year 7 boy... I can't even remember what the initial storyline was as it was changed so much. Anyway, since then Lauren has never seen eye to eye with her again.
"None of your business Courtney!" Lauren snaps.
"No need for the attitude Lauren." She snarls at her and then turns to me, "Who is he Rubes?"
"Oh it's honestly nothing, just a friend of a friend." I lie.
"Aw, how did you guys meet?" She asks.
Ugh, I really did not want to get into this conversation with her.
"Uh, we met, uh..." I get interrupted.
"Alright guys, in your seats please and lets open our books to where we were last lesson." Mr Baxter says as he enters the room.
"We'll continue this conversation at lunch." Courtney says.
Great. This means I need to hide from Courtney at lunch. Where is somewhere she'd never go? The Library!
~
Lauren and I are in the Library, Lauren has a book with her phone hidden inside it and I'm on my laptop pretending to study. Maybe I should look up outfits for Friday? I don't even know where we're going, so how will I know what to look up? Why hasn't he messaged me yet? I'm constantly checking my phone, waiting for a notification from him. What if he realises his decision to ask me out on a second date was wrong? Ugh, I hate being an over thinker.
"What do you think you'll wear?" Lauren asks.
"I have no clue, I don't even know where we're going" I say.
"Oh, why not?" she asks.
"Because he said he was going to message me the details and he hasn't. He hasn't even spoken to me since I saw him last." I cry out.
"Rubes, don't stress! Just we're nice jeans and a nice shirt, you can always get away with that."
"Yeah I guess, but what if he's planning on going somewhere really fancy?"
"Then dress it up a bit. Just wear something like you did yesterday"
"But I felt so under dressed, and it was just a cafe."
"Why don't you just message him?"
"I don't want to look needy... I hardly know the guy." I say with an uneasy tone.
"Yeah that's true. Why don't you just message him and ask him how his day is?"
"I suppose I could do that."
