Arthur's Return (Merlin BBC)

Chapter VIII.

It was really cloudy that day… I remember how hard it was to get on with this horse,  it was going his own way. But after a few hours of riding I somehow managed that. However none of us really wanted to share a conversation. Everyone was worried and in a hurry.

In the front were Mordred and Merlin, in the middle Arthur and me and behind us Leon, Gwaine and Percival.

“Is it so far away?” Gwaine asked being really loud so Mordred could hear him.

“Just a few hours…” he yelled right back.

“Can we stop somewhere and eat something… I can’t fight like that.” Gwaine shouted.

“Sure if you want.” Mordred said.

“Could you two be any louder so that the whole world can hear you… ” Arthur said.

It’s like they never were on a mission.

“He’s right. Morgana could be anywhere…” I said.

Merlin looked at me worried. Then he turned to Mordred “How can you be so sure they are there?”,

“Morgana never leaves this place. I know that she’s there…”

“Yes, I get that you feel the power of her. But what if that’s a trap and you’re on her side? ” Merlin whispered.

“Believe me, I’m not. She’s the pure evil.” Mordred walked faster with his horse leaving Merlin behind.

I came closer to Merlin.

“What was that all about?”, he turned to me whispering.

“Oh, just trying to see if he lies…” I smiled.

As we went on, the clouds were bigger and the fog got thicker. It was getting colder and darker.

“So, I think we’re there.” Mordred turned around.

We stood on a hill so we could see everything from up there. A dark, old castle that was surrounded by a devastated forest. It was like in a horror movie.  We put our horses down and told  Leon to wait there while we went to save Gaius. At first he protested saying that I should stay here and wait. The other knights agreed. But I didn’t listen I was the first who slid down the hill and ran towards the castle.

Suddenly I heard Merlin screaming “Emma watch out!”

As soon as I turned around two big red eyes watched me. It was a Wyvern, ready to attack. I slowly took my sword out  but before I could make a move the Wyvern started waving with his wings and screaming. Then it simply flew away.

“What did I do?” I looked at Merlin while they came closer.

“Your crystal…” he said. I took it in my hands.

“It irritates them. It’s really powerful. ” he said quietly walking towards the castle.

We soon were there and slowly went inside. There wasn’t any guards, just a few Wyverns flew by. We ran into the Throne Room like a hurricane, but no one was there.

“Are you sure they are here?” Arthur angrily looked at Mordred.

“They must be here, Sir. They can’t be anywhere else. ” Mordred said a little scared.

“Ahh… I see we have guests!” Morgana voice echoed through the room. She came into the light wearing a long black dress. Her hair was really messy and her eyes looked tired so I suppose that she hasn’t slept very well. That didn’t change her mood to threaten someone. She passed us and sat down on the stoned throne.

“I expected you to come, King Arthur…” she said smiling.

“Where’s Gaius?” Arthur asked.

“Oh, he will be here soon… But I have a question for you. Where’s Emrys?” she added.

“I don’t know who you mean.”

“I can feel the power in this room.” She said looking at me.

As soon as I saw that she was thinking I’m Emrys, Ianamros grabbed me from behind and other soldiers came and grabbed the rest of us. Then Gaius came out of nowhere. He had black eyes and looked kind of hypnotized.

“Milady…” he said giving Morgana a glass full of a dark portion.

“Let me see… Who from you here is Emrys?” she  was still sitting on the throne. I looked at Merlin who was silent. I ignored eye contact.

“Oh, if no one answerers, I have to rip out someone’s heart…” she gave Gaius the portion back and pointed at me. He came closer, but then the roof started crashing down. When that happened Arthur and the rest started to fight.

“Oh Emrys… ” Morgana said.

I somehow got out of Ianamros hands and started to fight.

“Oh I love fights like that.” I’m the only one who saw Merlins eyes changing into gold as the roof in front of Morgana started to crash down.

I grabbed the potion and throw it away. This all happened in a few seconds.

Morgana stood up “That’s not how we play.” She said casting a spell but before finishing it, the roof in front of Morgana crashed completly down.

Merlin casted a spell on Gaius what awaked him from the spell and all of us ran outside as fast as we could.

We soon came to Leon who was guiding the horses and we rid out of there.

When we were really far away I started asking question “What was that? Will she kill me? Does she think I’m…”

“We will talk about that back in Camelot.” Arthur stopped me.

“Gaius how are you doing?” he then said.

“Oh a bit wierd after that spell but I can handle that.”Gaius said.

Halfway back, we heard the familiar sound of Wyverns which were chasing us. We all looked up at the same time.

“Run!” Percival shouted. We did as commanded.

After a few minutes of running the two Wyverns got tired so they landed on the ground trying to threaten us with their claws. Arthur and the rest of us started fighting with them but as soon as I came one of them flew away while the other one was stabbed into the chest by Gwaine and Arthur.  

“I think Morgana is chasing us…” Mordred said.

But before we could breathe out another Wyvern came from nowhere and tried to kill me. Suddenly Mordred ran between us two and stabbed the beast in the neck.

They both were on the ground, the Wyvern dead, Mordred wounded by the claw.
