"The moon is my sun. The night is my day...... Blood is my life and you are my prey."- Unknown
Veron's POV
She told me to stop hurting her but I couldn't. All I could see was a red blur. I couldn't control it. I needed to quench my thirst. I sunk my teeth into her neck again, draining every ounce of blood from her until her body laid lifelessly on my dorm room floor.
What is happening to me?!
I held my head, trying to stop it from throbbing. I needed to take control but I couldn't think straight. My throat felt parched and I stumbled over to the mini refrigerator to get some water but it couldn't help me.
My chest heaved up and down until all I can see is blackness. Have I fainted? I've never fainted before.
I opened my eyes and found myself in an abandoned house.
"Hello? Is anyone here?" I asked but all I heard was my voice echoing through the empty house.
My eyes scanned the eerie room. There was a picture of the ocean on the left wall. I decided to see if there was anyone here who can tell me where the hell I am.
There was a step leading upstairs and my curiosity got the better of me. The steps groaned in pain under my weight."Veron." I heard a loud voice calling my name.
"Y-yess?" I answered nervously, looking towards the top of the stairs where the voice seemed to be coming from.
"Do not fall in love with Taniel. She'll be the one who will prevent you from fulfilling your destiny. " The voice warned.
" Who's Taniel? What destiny?" I asked in confusion.
"I have to go before they realize that I'm warning you...." the voice said.
"Wait!" I went up the steps hurriedly but then my body started shaking violently.
What the hell is wrong with me!
"Veron wake up." I heard the familiar voice of my uncle.
I slowly opened my eyes to see Uncle Malik standing over me."What are you doing in my dorm room?" I enquired.
Uncle Malik had a serious, concerned look on his face.
I sat up on my bed. "What's wrong Uncle?" I asked.
He sighed and sat beside me on my bed. "There's something I have to tell you....." He started to say then sighed again. I really don't like the way he's acting. It's freaking me out.
"Just spit it out, Uncle Malik," I said impatiently. "Whatever it is I can handle it."Uncle Malik got up and walked across the room then sighed again. "Veron......you're not like other guys. You're different." He said.
Seriously?! I'm missing a college pool party for a pep talk from my uncle? You've got to be kidding me.
"Yes. Uncle. I know I'm not like other guys. I'm a jock and I'm popular. Every guy wants to be like me and every girl wants to be with me." I boasted.
Uncle Malik's expression remained serious.
I sighed dramatically. "Ok. Uncle. I don't need a pep talk. I will improve my grades. You have nothing to worry about." I confirmed.
Uncle Malik shook his head and sighed again. What's with him and this sighing today?
"Speaking of different, I just had the weirdest dream," I told him. "I dreamt that I killed my girlfriend by drinking her blood." I chuckled lightly. I really need to stop watching the Originals.
My uncle's expression was stone cold. "I don't think that was a dream, Son." He said then looked to the next corner of the room.
"Abby!" I screamed, running to where she was still lying on the ground. "Is she d-dead?" I looked up to Uncle Malik for answers and he shook his head.
"No. Not yet. But we could get her to a hospital before we lose her completely."
"Then why aren't you calling an ambulance?!" I yelled at him.
"And tell them what? That her vampire boyfriend almost killed her?"
"Wait. What? I'm a vam-" I couldn't bring myself to say that word out loud.
"Yes. You are." Uncle Malik said. "The girl will be ok."
He came and knelt beside me on the ground where I was holding Abby's head on my lap. She looked so peaceful. I glanced over at the huge bite mark on her neck and a tear escaped from my eyes. I did this to her. I'm a monster!
Uncle Malik did something really strange. He bit his hand and let some of his blood drain into the bite mark and within a few seconds, you couldn't tell that Abby was bitten.
"What the-" I couldn't find words to say. All I wanted was to wake up from this nightmare.
Abby coughed. She isn't dead. Thank God!
"Abby are you ok?" I asked her.
She knitted her brows then her eyes were wide as saucers as she pulled away from me. "You....you bit me." She said, touching her neck. She ran to the mirror to inspect her neck. "I know I wasn't dreaming." Her voice broke when she spoke. "You're a monster Veron and I'm going to tell everyone what you did."
Uncle Malik snorted. "And what exactly are you going to tell everyone?"
I smiled to myself. No one would believe Abby if she told them that I am a vam- a vam-......yea that thing.
Abby folded her hand across her chest and her brows furrowed as she seems to be in deep thought.
She turned to me.
"Veron. You're a vampire?" she stared at me waiting for an answer. What was I supposed to say? I was still in perpetual shock myself.
"I really don't know," I answered. "But we can get through this baby."
Abby took a step backward. "We? There's no more we. How am I supposed to be in a relationship with someone who can kill me in the blink of an eye?" Tears were now streaming down her face and she stormed out of my room.
"Abby! Wait! " I rushed out after her and I was instantly in front of her.
Wow! That was really fast........and felt really cool. I feel like I'm going to like this vampire thing.I looked down at Abby's shocked face. She looked as if she just saw a ghost.......or even worst, a mythical creature.
"Abby. Babe. I can explain...." I stuttered helplessly. She folded her hand across her chest waiting for my explanation.
Oh-oh!!
What am I supposed to explain? I just found out I'm a vam-......yeah you know what I mean. I don't even understand it myself...I don't even know if I want to be what my Uncle says I am.
I am brought back to reality when Abby tapping her foot on the hallway tiles seems to be deafening me. On instinct, I brought my hands up to my ears trying to block out the sound.
"Why are you stomping?" I asked and Abby looked at me as if I were a crazy person.
"Well. Aren't you going to explain?" she asked impatiently with her hands still folded across her chest.
"Babe. Y-you're just imagining things. Are you sure you're ok?" I asked.
Abby took a step closer to me and poked me with her index finger with an evil look in her eyes. "I know what I saw. This isn't the first time you're biting me and I won't stop until I figure this out. You better watch your back."
"What do you mean this isn't the first time?" I was really confused but Abby just rolled her eyes and stomped off without looking back.
I just found out that I'm a vampire and my girlfriend just broke up with me. My life is practically over!
Wait......
Aren't vampires..........dead??
