Veron's POV
I looked into her beautiful eyes that seemed to be drawing me in and I had to tell her.
"I killed a girl." The words left my mouth before I had a chance to stop them. I foolishly continued speaking. "I drained all the blood from her body then buried her."
Keisha was as stiff as a board. The champaign glass fell from her hand and her eyes bulged from their sockets. She didn't speak. She didn't even seem to be breathing.
"I-I didn't know what I was doing then. I was a new vampire and I couldn't control my thirst. I'm sorry Keisha." I tried to apologize.
Keisha was still staring at me and I wondered for a moment if I should go and get her mom or someone else. She was making me very panicked.
"How old was she?" Keisha asked very quietly.
"We were classmates," I answered.
"Did you get forgiveness from her parents?" She asked again.
"What do you mean? They don't know I was the one who killed her." I told her truthfully.
She folded her hand across her chest. "You need to give her family closure and beg their forgiveness."
I chuckled. "What am I supposed to do? Just go up to them and tell them that I'm a vampire and I accidentally killed their daughter? They're going to think I'm crazy and probably call the cops."
"I don't think you know what it feels like to lose a family member." She said solemnly.
I sighed. "OK. I'll go in the morning." I pinched the bridge of my nose. Why do women have to always be so stubborn?
"It's settled then. You're going tomorrow and I'm coming with you."
Oh boy. I had no idea that this is how tonight would have gone. I had plans to take our relationship to the next level but I just had to open my big mouth and talk about sharing secrets.
"Why did you do it, Veron?" Keisha asked. "I know you were a new vampire but didn't Malik provide you with blood so you wouldn't have to go out and hunt for yourself?"
I cleared my throat. "Yea. He did but I was at a party and didn't bring any with me. Trust me, Keisha, I would never hurt you. I would never hurt anyone. If I could take back that night I would. It haunts me every night. The fear in her eyes-" my voice broke and I placed my head in my hands. I didn't want to break down in front of Keisha. This is not how I pictured this night.
Keisha came closer to me and started rubbing my back. "I've never killed anyone before but I can imagine how hard it is for you."
"I'm a monster," I uttered. Every time I think about that night I believe more and more that I'm a monster.
"Shhhh.....don't speak like that. You are not a monster. You are a good person."
I shrugged her hand off me. "How can you say that? I almost killed you. You have to start believing that I'm a monster. I've started to believe it now. You really have no idea how hard it is to be this close to you and not pierce your skin with my fangs. It is a constant battle to keep my composure but somehow the monster in me always comes out. You should be scared of me!"
Keisha placed her warm hand on my cheek and I could feel the blood coursing through her veins. Her eyes were moist as she stared at me. "I'm not scared of you Veron. I know you would never intentionally hurt me."
I placed my hand over hers. "That's it, Keisha. What if I hurt you without even knowing? I don't even want to think about it. I wouldn't be able to forgive myself."
"You won't hurt me." She assured me again. "Close your eyes and I'll prove it to you."
I did as she said.
I felt her warm lips brush against mine and I instantly drew back. The scent of her blood was too strong. She used the back of her hand to hold my head in place as she placed soft kisses on my lips. I fought the urge to bite into her plump, juicy lips as I kissed her back.
I found myself focusing less on the scent of her blood and more on the perfection of her kiss. This could work. I could actually be with her without hurting her.
I laced my hand around her and pulled her unto my lap. Our lips worked in sync as she held me tighter.
In one swift move, I ripped her dress from her body and she let out a seductive moan which made me harder if that was even possible at this moment.
"I want you." She moaned against my lip sending me into overdrive.
My clothes were sprawled across the floor so quickly, that I hardly noticed it myself.
I couldn't think. I didn't have time to think as I entered her slowly. Everything else faded around me. It was just me and her. I couldn't hear anything else. I couldn't see anything else. Just her.
Keisha nibbled on my ear and I knew if she kept this up I wouldn't last much longer.
In the heat of the moment, I squeezed my eye shut.
I looked around and I had a feeling of nostalgia. I was overlooking a yard with a nice picket fence. A little boy was running around playing with a kite. Taking a closer look, this kid looks like a younger me. A woman came out of the house and called the little boy in for supper. I looked at the woman and I felt like I knew her somehow.
"Veron. Wake up." I heard Keisha's voice and my eyes snapped open.
We were lying on the floor, covered with my blanket.
"What happened?" I inquired.
Keisha smiled at me adoringly. "I just had my best first experience." She leaned up and kissed me. "It was slow and quick at the same time....it's kinda hard to explain. Then you kinda started snoring after that."I smiled weakly. I was a little embarrassed but then I remembered the dream.
"I think I had a flashback while having sex with you," I told her.
"A flashback?" She scrunched up her nose. "What kind?"
"Of when I was younger. I felt like I just knew the place. And this woman I think I know her from somewhere."
"Maybe you saw her in a photograph," Keisha suggested and I jumped up and started searching for my wallet. It couldn't be her, could it? It can't be possible.
"Veron? Are you OK? Tell me what's wrong." Keisha pulled the blanket over her naked body as she sat up to watch me with keen eyes.
I pulled the picture of my parents from my wallet. "I think I just had a memory of my mother," I told her and she gasped.
