"You're not going to master the rest of your life in one day. Just relax. Master the day then just keep doing that every day."

Veron's POV

I tried calling Uncle Malik's phone again. Still busy.

Where the heck could he be?

The pain started spreading to my right side and then to my legs. Never in my lifetime have I ever felt so much pain. I felt like I was dying.....if that's even possible. I couldn't move my legs. They were as heavy as lead.
I tried Uncle Malik one more time.

"Hello?" His voice sounded muffled.

"Uncle!" I shouted into the phone. "You need to get over here. Something is wroaaaaaaaah!!!" The pain and swelling were spreading up to my chest and I could hardly breathe. I really don't know how much more of this I can take.

I heard the front door open. Thank heavens he made in over here so quickly.
He pushed the bedroom door open and clicked on the light.

"Hey man..." Oh shit! That's Damion's voice. "I really like Vanessa and I don't want you hitting on her. If you do I will- whoa! What the hell man? What's wrong with you?"

What lie can I tell him now? "I think I'm having an allergic reaction." That was all I could think of to say.

He ran out of the room and back with a pack of ice wrapped in a towel. "I heard that ice is good for swelling?" He said as he placed the ice on my swollen side. The coldness seemed to make it worst and I cried out in pain. Where the heck is Uncle Malik?!

I focused on breathing. Inhale. Exhale. I will be OK as soon as my uncle gets here. He'll know what to do. He always knows what to do.

"Should I call an ambulance?" Damion asked for the second time. "You really need medical help." He sounded like he was on the brink of tears. What a coward.

"Damion, are you a medical student?" I was getting irritated. "No. You're not. So please shut up. I called Uncle Malik. He'll be here soon."

Snap. Snap.

The sound rang in my ears. "What are you doing?" I tried to shout but the sound came out as a hoarse whisper.

"Here!" He shoved his phone into my face forcing me to look at it. There was a pregnant belly that didn't look healthy. The blood vessels were bulging so much they would burst at any second. That lady must be having triplets.

"Damion. I'm in too much pain to look at your weird pictures. Your taste in women is disgusting. Are you the baby daddy? You can tell me." I joked but his countenance remained serious.

"That's your belly." He said with a concerned look.
"Are you sure you don't need a doctor man? You could die."

No, I couldn't. I'm already dead.

The rap on the door startled me causing me to jump. Pain ran through my body like wildfire.

"Veron!" That was Abby's voice. What the hell is she doing here? We broke up. Didn't we?

"Get rid of her!" I whispered to Damion. "She can't see me like this."

"You got it, man." Damion got up and went to the front door. He left the bedroom door open just a crack so I could hear what they were saying.
