IT WAS THE DAY AFTER THE WINTER FORMAL when Olivia found out she was pregnant. Alex Standall, her best friend, walked in on her puking her breakfast unto the toilet, purple bags camping underneath her eyes and a queasy feeling on her stomach.
Alex held her hair back and said, "Jesus Christ, Liv. I thought your stomach flu was over. Does it usually last this long?"
Olivia weakly leaned her temple on her palm and relaxed under her bestfriend's touch. She remember saying: "I told you, that Chinese restaurant is cursed or something. It barely even has costumers, i blame you for making me eat that hainese chicken with you."
He looked at her strangely then and asked, "How long has this been happening? I don't think it's because of the resto. We went there almost 2 months ago!"
"I don't know. I lost track of time but I've been vomiting a lot and my stomach feels like it's turning upside down, i don't know, i feel ... weird."
She looked up to see his face scrunched in concentration as he tried to take in the information. Then, he looked horrified. "Alright, that's it. I'm taking you to the hospital. We're meeting Mom at her office."
She had no energy left so she let him lead her downstairs where her Mom's on the phone at the kitchen, oblivious to the two of them passing by and running into her brother, Noah, watching The Martian at the television. She remember him telling her she looked awful, no longer in a teasing way like he usually says, but in a more concerned kind of way. Owen and Dom, her brothers, are outside playing hide and seek by the frontyard and asked what was happening when both of the teenagers doesn't either. Alex didn't allow Noah to come with them, telling him he'll call as soon as they get the check-up results.
She fell asleep on the ride to the hospital and Alex kept her upright while walking until they arrived on his mom's office, where Mrs. Standall started saying something that Olivia barely understood.
Alex did all of the talking, filling her in to what has been happening and how long has it been going on. Olivia didn't miss the petrified look on her face when she looked at her, putting a hand on her stomach as she did so, as if she already knew.
She gave her three pregnancy tests and Alex and Olivia glanced at each other with the same look she had on her face. She said quietly, at that time. "We have to make sure."
She helped her with the pregnancy tests and she could feel her heart pounding on her ears, fingertips, neck, and toes. Waiting, waiting, waiting for the inevitable. Alex paced back and forth that time, while they waited for the results, pulling at his hair up to the point that it looked like it would be ripped out with the way he's raking his hands through it.
"It's gonna be fine. I'm pretty sure the results would be negative." He told her though it feels like he doesn't believe it himself.
And he was wrong.

When they checked the pregnancy tests a few minutes later, all three of them had two lines on them indicating positive. Alex slouched next to her and he started reassuring his best friend that Montgomery would have to take full responsibility of being a father and there is no way in hell that they would abort the baby inside of her.
She started feeling better, thinking that maybe he was right. Maybe she could get through this. She won't have to face this alone, She has her friends, her family, her boyfriend and the father of her child, Monty. This will turn out good. Everything will be okay. She's not aborting the baby, this is a blessing, not a mistake. This is my baby.
Then, a week later, she found her boyfriend, Montgomery de la Cruz, and her bestfriend, Tina Clayton, doing the last thing she thought they would do in the girls' bathroom after they had a fight and she promised herself she would never let Montgomery know about the child inside her.
