OLIVIA PULLED UP THE WHITE BMW on the driveway, sighing as she killed the engine. She looked over the rearview mirror and stared at the young boy sleeping serenely on the backseat. The heated conversation about Montgomery burns wildly in her mind throughout the journey and although Grayson had agreed to drop the issue, that doesn't stop the chaos in her head.
A knock on the window beside her interrupted her train of thoughts and she jolted lightly, craning her neck to see Noah's cerulean blue eyes staring at her in puzzlement, gesturing for her to unlock the doors. She steps out of the car and was welcomed with a hug from her younger brother, his baby-like cologne filling her nose.
"You guys arrived just in time. Mom just finished cooking all the food." Noah says, pulling away and opening the door of the backseat. "Go on inside, I'll wake him up. Call Dom and Owen for the bags."
Olivia nodded with a grin and raced up the porch stairs and burst through the front door, making Dom and Owen jolt in surprise who are sprawled on the couch, looking utterly unbothered with all the fuss happening inside the house. Dom lights up and attacked his older sister with a hug, shifting his weight to her body. A groan escaped from her lips and she half-heartedly slap the back of his head.
"Finally you're here!"
Dominic, for the past five years, have grown to be just like their father. His strong jaw more prominent now even in his early age, his striking pale blue eyes just like his father's. However, he had taken after his mother's signature curls that tickles the tips of his ears. He had most of his resemblances from Michael, the only thing that made him different from his father was his bright smile and loud mouth.
"Of course, wouldn't want to miss my favourite boy's graduation." She chuckles.
Her statement earns an exaggerated cough from Owen who visibly looks betrayed and jealous. Olivia pulls away from Dominic and tackled her youngest brother with a tight hug, "Oh, stop sulking, you brat! Of course you're my favourite too."
Noah's annoyed demands for extra hand for help could be heard by the opened windows and the two boys excused themselves from Olivia, heading out to the front lawn. Olivia followed the trail of the delicious aroma of her mother's cooking from the kitchen and sighed in relief, "How I've missed home."
Harriet jolts from the kitchen counter and gasped, throwing her hands in the air with joy. "Dear, thank Goodness you're here. I told you to come give me a call once you're near, I could've made your dad come home sooner from his country club meeting."
Olivia pecks her mother's cheek and shrugged, "Don't worry about it, I'm sure he's on his way home now." She stretched her body with a yawn, "Anyway, I'll lie down for a bit. My back and arms from the long drive are killing me."
"Your sister would be arriving this evening, don't forget."
"Wouldn't miss it, Mom."
What an anticipated family reunion it is.
Olivia didn't know how long she slept but as soon as she opened her eyes, the sky outside was dark and the house was buzzing with muffled voices from downstairs and the backyard. She sat up and stretched with a sigh, looking over the bedside clock that reads '6:46 PM'. Harriet must've ordered everyone not to wake her up. Still disoriented from her sleep, she takes a freshly-cleaned towel from her closet and headed to the bathroom to take a quick shower. The cold water was soothing and enough to fully wake her senses up, making her stay a little while longer in the bathroom than intended.
After dressing up into some comfortable clothes, she joins her family downstairs. She didn't hesitate to hug Elizabeth in the back as soon as she sees her figure standing by the kitchen counter.
