EIGHTEEN ૐBARBECUES AND JEALOUSY

THE BACKYARD OF THE CONNELLY'S was set up for a barbecue party with their family with the three de la Cruz's, a few of their closest family friends, some of Elizabeth and Olivia's close friends along with their younger brothers' peers. It was a nice Sunday morning and Michael Connelly thought it would be a great idea to throw a small gathering at their backyard. To say that it was a small gathering was an understatement, Michael Connelly was a popular businessman that was notorious for his success and the townspeople loved him for his kindness.

Little do they know he was kind to everyone but to his daughter after finding out what he used to perceive as a 'mistake'. When he saw the small bundle of blue blanket that enclosed around his grandson, it was impossible for him to tend the hatred he planted in his heart. He just didn't know how to accept it. And to forgive. One trait Olivia got from him was holding grudges.

Olivia sits at the set of tables her father rented for the day because of the huge amount of people on their house. Grayson sits in her lap with her friends circled around her, turning into a full heart-eyes emoji while they watch the baby boy erupt into uncontrollable giggles when Jeff Atkins plays peek-a-boo with him. On her left was her most loyal friend, Cali Anderson, and Alex Standall to her right.

"He's so adorable!" Cali gushed, grinning down at Grayson. "He'd be a good-looking boy in the future, I could already tell! Look at his smile, aw."

Bryce laughs and detaches his lips from the bottle of his Corona, patting a hand against Monty's back. "Credits to my boy Monty for having great looks and passing it down to his kid."

Hannah Baker scoffs and leans back at Zach Dempsey's arm slung across her shoulder, she cocks an eyebrow at Bryce and Montgomery sassily. "You sure about that? Or, maybe it was Liv who Grayson inherited it from and not Monty because I can't see any of those 'great looks' you were talking about, Bryce."

Ooh's and Aah's erupted from their circle and most of them laughed while Zach choked on his beer when he accidentally drank on the wrong pipe. The Asian boy became a coughing mess and it made the group laugh even more, Justin half-heartedly patting the boy's back to help him recover. It was unfortunate and almost comical that Zach always chokes on his drink.

"Holy shit, my girl just roasted both of you!" Zach forced out, face beet red and scrunched up into a grimace.

Bryce shot back with a roll of his eyes. "Yeah, your girl's tougher than you, mama's boy."

"And here we go again with the fucking mama's boy jokes." Justin stated, shaking his head at Bryce's ridiculousness. Olivia shoots him a reprimanding look, nodding her head at the baby in her hands. "No swearing in front of the baby."

"Ah shit, sorry babe." Justin smiled sheepishly when he realized he had done it again and Olivia shoots him a look to which he replied with a wink that made her smile. He mouths, 'Sorry, love.'
