The Nest

TEN

Lanas POV:

Last night I swam around a bit and noticed that there are a few places where the cave is high up and and water didn't flow, so I had 20cm of breathing space if I wanted too.

I also discovered how intelligent Jim is as I turned my back to the glowing water pool and crept into the abandoned cave then heard s splash as he emerged behind me.

I also had managed to tie my gear up in a dry bag to bring it under the dark cave and swim with it over the once civilised side of the cave.

I also made a fire.

Then I accidentally also fell asleep.

When I woke up I looked through the peephole to see the sky still dark but with a hint of red, I rushed myself back out and under, swam back to the other side with Jimmy, didn't bother drying off just threw my clothes on and crept out to where I had left my fire torch the night before and wrapped a bit of jerky fat on it to burn and used it to guide me out.

I got to the the cave mouth, put out my torch and start jogging back following my old prints and marks in the ground. But now I think I'm lost.

The sun is almost creeping over the hills and my path I have been following seems to not look so familiar, but Jimmy is still nose down on the trail. What trail? It's an invisible path way that only a strong nose of a dog can follow.
Then it all makes sense, we are following someone else's trail, but not the kind of trail heading back to the Nest.

SevensPOV:

I feel my heart beat pick up slightly when I see all her stuff left where it was yesterday morning when I got her for archery practice.
I know that she is meant to be farming the animals today Mia and Chimp.

Chimp is basically an animal whisperer and does all the physical work around making sure the animals are sleeping in a safe place and aren't getting caught on things, he does the handy work but also gives the animals lots of love.

Mia likes to say she is the vet, considering she worked along side Bella when we rescued two lambs far away on a farm that Zepp and Teri had brought back after a 3 day trip out.

The girls had to cut open one of them to get a piece of wire out, Mia and Bella stitched that lamb up so well and kept him alive that he now lives to run around mating with all the sheep in the paddock. He's so famous now we call him Stud for a good laugh.

I arrive down by the barns and get talking to Chimp for a good 20miniuts as he shows me around the new chicken coop. "Here mate take an egg home the hens are laying well", he says passing me a beautiful brown egg, I thank him with some deer jerky which he gratefully chomps into with his wonky teeth.

He sorts something out under one of the laying boxes and I remember to ask him about Lana.
"Hey bro isn't La- umm Jay coming to work here today?", I catch myself with her real name almost giving up her true identity, everyone knows that we keep our real names because who can you really trust? The only one who knows my birth name is Ben because I met him when I was clueless about everything.

Chimp replies" uhhh I'm gonna say she's with Mia aye", I think for a minute, he's probably right."cheers bro see ya round", I say and head back to my meat sorting zone.

I work there for an hour or two and the sun is now fully up and everyone is out either at their work or doing errands around the place. I have successfully butchered half of yesterday's deer and am hanging meat up for drying. Within the next hour Hook will probably be over to give me a hand and we will smoke some fish, after that I am going to find Lana.

Lanas POV:

I sit there for a second or two puzzled, I feel blood rush to my face and I just want to break down and cry, I rip out a piece of damp moss and throw it away and again and again then I hear a voice.

"If it isn't little miss Robbin hood with her bow skills", says the same tall dark hair guy that I saw pass by while I was out doing archery the other day. "Hello...um can you point me back to the nest please..", I stutter my way through my sentence. He replies " the Nest ehh? Yeah well Hun you are on the wrong path let me tell you that right now, keep heading this way and you'll end up as dog tucker", he laughs away, what the hell is he on about.

"Oh..um yeah okay",I reply confused about the dog food reference he just made, I'm starting to feel worried.

"Well come on now Jay...was it?",
"Yeah I'm Jay, and you are???", I ask him studying his face closely, his dark green eyes meet mine and he grins a toothy smile showing a missing tooth down the bottom on the right side of his mouth. All these strange signs but I'm still attracted to him strangely and I'm not sure if I like it, then again I like his face....ugh sort your shit out Lana you don't even know him.

For all I could know is he could not even be from the Nest, just a random hot boy who keeps turning up....

I feel shocked for a second,why haven't I seen him around other people, why haven't I seen what he does, why haven't I seen him without that foresty green shirt on (like hell I want to see what's under there). Wait, actually I made a particularly good point to myself just then, if I see him without a shirt on then I would be able to see the scar that should be above his hip that all members of the Nest have.

I decide that's what I'll do, I'm going to meet up again and find out who he really is!

I'm on a hill at the edge of the tree line and I can see the nest, the sun is officially up but it's still morning and I think I have time to get to Mia for work today before anyone starts to worry, but first I want a few answers.

"So anyways what's your name?", I ask
The guy who lead me all the way back still hasn't told me who he is, he looks a bit shocked, I wait for his answer but too many seconds pass for my patience do I hit him with another question. "And what part of the village do you work for?", I give him the look with my arms folded and eyebrow raised.

"Well I wouldn't say that I work in your village exactly... um let's just say I'm a guardian who watches over", he says and flicks the tip of my nose. " you spy on me!", I say shocked " no way! I didn't even know who you were until the other day...but now maybe I will be watching out, in a caring way, I hate to see such strong willed beautiful girls like you crying out here, it almost seems like the trees are being blamed for your actions, trees see everything, know everything, and also feel all the punches and scratches they get when people like you can't handle themselves, some trees even hold dead bodies hanging from them... but it's not the trees fault is it? It's the man who planted the tree", I see truth in his eyes and he turns away for a second.

"My point is you aren't alone, will you come visit me again tomorrow?", he turns back his eyes shinning slightly as he says it. "Yes", I smile and with that I turn and sprint down a familiar path of yesterdays memories and head to Mias barn with Jim, I glance back once towards the tree line.

Had to make a longer chapter because the last one was just filling in a few gaps, I hope you guys like this, later on it will all make a lot more sense.
Time to amp things up a bit
