Sevens POV:I know of the girl who went out of the Nest and did missions of some sort but I never really thought much of it but now that Lana is the messenger...wow I'm not sure what to think.
Is it a good thing? A bad thing?
I'm actually very jealous of her because I have been waiting to go beyond the tree line into town. I have gone on the odd occasion but never to the city only into the gum tree forest because we were in need of meat and there were animals over there for us to catch.I know that Terri is jealous too, it's all she talks about, and Sam from the farms, they all want a change of scenery but it's obvious that Lana is onto something and we are well aware that she is going to help a lot.
Malcom on the other hand told me he saw potential in her and knew she was going to do big things, I found it strange he was kind of protective, I guess because we were all sitting around the fire pit and most people weren't saying nice things. I think I need to be here for her though because it is a lot of pressure.
------------------------------------------
Iv finished up for the day and I meet Lana at Main square.
"Hey Jay, so how was it", I say to her she is with Zak, " it was awesome I learnt a lot", she says, I wonder what she means learn, what is there really to learn? She giggles at what Zak says then he turns and leaves back up the path he came, " so what did you get up too?",I ask and she just shrugs.
"Oh I see top secret huh?", I nudge her wishing I did know what she had got up too, "studying", she simply said. I wonder for a moment the shrug it off.She says she needs to do some gardening so I come with her and we start watering her patch of carrots that haven't even started growing "so I guess you will be back working with Zak tomorrow right?", I ask " mmm yeah I guess I probably will", she says absorbed in her gardening not paying a lot of attention.
Then she says " you and Terri do much today?", I think for a bit " yeah I actually helped her building an extra room on her hut seeing as we were off hunting today because Zepp was training up Joey", I say knowing that bringing up Terri annoys her. She simply says "oh that's good". I really don't understand girls, she is just sitting there planting seeds humming away happily, I feel awkward now and I need a reason to leave I don't know why.
" well you seem happy, want me to get you for dinner?", I ask her "I'm okay thanks I have some leftover that I cooked up this morning I think I'm going to hang out here, you are welcome to join", she replies. " it's okay I'll bring round some bones for Jim tonight but after that I need to be at the fire pit to work out my morning hunt", I say " okay", she smiles back.
I head towards main square.
------------------------------------------
It's been a week every day is the same and I never really talk to her any more unless we are gardening or having dinner.
---------------------------------------------------
It's been a month....
Do I even know her anymore....I am walking towards main square, it's a Saturday 5pm ready to start the cooking for a feast, Ben wants everyone here tonight but I don't see Lana anywhere.
I am carrying wood in my arms with Blake and chatting away when I hear the drums start, isn't it a bit early in the night to start drumming. But then I hear heavy feat and see a path cleared and down that path comes a galloping beautiful horse, with a beautiful girl on it.
The horse slows down and starts circling around the fire greeting everyone, the horse gets to me and I see Lana in leather boots, hair half braided on one side and tied back letting her Burnett hair blow in the wind.
Ben talks to everyone "okay everyone as you may know this is Jay...and she is our messenger!!", everyone cheers, all of a sudden I understand everything, why she was gone for so long and why she was always so 'busy'.
"She is going to continue on Ellie's journey and bring peace to us all", Ben goes on, Lana is now standing beside Zak reins in one hand stroking her horse.
Once everyone is done she comes to me looking sad " I'm so sorry I just couldn't tell you, it's really important too Ben that we don't give out false information or false hope-", I cut her off and rap my arms around her pulling her in shushing her.
I feel like so much has happened and I want to be filled in on it but I can't and it's fine because this place isn't easy to live in so we need to do what we can to go on.
-------------------------------------------------
Lanas POV:
The past few weeks have been mental, I have learnt how to ride a horse, read all of Ellie's books, figured out her mission that she never got to complete.
To cut the long story short I have to find the missing child and bring her too the last Kiwana people of royalty and bring her back to her throne to legally have our country back.
I don't know how I'm going to do that, but my plan is to head to the city and find the last people of royalty first.
I have gone to the cave almost everyday but I still haven't seen the guy who went away With my broken bike, but I am heading there now for the last time until I leave for my first errand out on the city grounds.
Im on Honey my beautiful mare, she clomps along my usual path, I tie her up under the overhang at the cave mouth and head in, I gather up a couple of books and drop off my old ones. Once I am back out of the water with my dry bag I put on my leather boots that I bought off Lacey that I left waiting for me on the waters edge. I turn on my solar torch, quietly singing to myself I head back out to Honey.
There standing next to her is the guy, he is patting her and she seems to not mind.
"She is a beautiful one isn't she", he says as if the last month of him not showing up never happened. I untie her ignoring him putting on my bag and getting onto my horse, I start to turn her to leave "I was wondering what was going to happen to her, sitting there all alone every day...I had to stop visiting her because that boy kept hanging around and I didn't want him to see me", he says.I stop and turn to him " I'm sorry but I have a lot of pressure...I don't t even know you...could you please tell me your name?? Where are you from?", I ask pleading to him.
He sighs "my name is Dalton, I am from the Pack a few hills over", he says looking down at his feet "there's another village!", I say shocked, I get off my horse. " no no no you didn't hear that, I'm not meant to say it's just...no I have to go", he turns and runs, I get back on my horse and Trott after him "please I want to know more", I shout I am now pleading, he stops and looks up at me sending a chill down my spine."I'm sorry Lana I wish I could tell you...I wish I could help find your sister...", he touches my cheek lightly "I'm not sure I should be scouting this part of the bush anymore", he says and leaves.
I feel a tear drip down my face.
Did he just call me Lana?
